FSForce module: is it worth?

Featured Replies

Hi all :-wave I'm currently using a logitech wingman force feedback joystick, and I've heard of this FSForce module. Is anybody using it? Opinions? Since the force feedback joystick is already providing nice realism, I wonder how much this module could enhance or improve it. From the site this is not quite clear - or I didn't catch it correctly. Is it worth the price? :-roll Thanx a lot for your suggestions :-)

There's a trial, I just suggest you try it and judge yourself :)

Surely I can do this, but ... you know ... many times you install something new and screw up everything ... would like to avoid this, if possible - prefer to fly insteadthanx anyway

Suggest you download it and try it. It won't screw anything up as it's a module that works OUTSIDE of FS. Create a system restore point before you install it if your that worried. If you were satisfied that he standard force feedback effects were working properly for you then you will probably not benefit from this addon. If you are after better, more complete realism, especially realistic trim effects and control surface response then you might think this is one of the `ultimate` addons. Allcott

IMHO, save your $$$. Jump around in your chair and shake frokm side to side - you'll get the same effect, get some exercise and save $$ at the same time. I have read of people who *love* it - I am not one of those. For$10 - $15 bucks it *might* be worth it.Just MHO,VicVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

I *love* it. For trim realism there is nothing else to touch it. Add the ability to adjust forces outside of the stupid aircraft.cfg file settings that no developer ever seems to bother with and it makes all those spring-loaded joysticks into one great steaming pile of virtual horse manure in a simulated dung heap. It's the only utility that fixes the wayward behaviour of the default force feedback and therefore the price doesn't really come into it as MS FF2 owners have little choice, MS having abandoned the product. Spread it across every aircraft you will ever put in your FS folder and it's cheap!Allcott

Another one in the " love it gang" :)I have a msff2 joystick and for me the MS ff efects were so poor I ran fs2004 with them disabled. Now I have ground bunps which speed up as I speed up, and the great trim system it just feels so much better. As to value, only you can decide give the trial a go, nothing to lose.Of all the addons aircraft, scenery etc,, I,ve bought Fsforce is the only one I use 100% of the time. for me It enhances fs2004 every time I fly.CheersJohn

thanx a lot to all of you.I understand, though, that this is not quite "a must". I'll give it a try - probablyhappy landings!

I was skeptic about this product, now I say BUY IT! It took me only two sessions and a few tweaks to the profiles to find FSForce excellent. With the correct profiles you will be amazed how FSForce can improve the realism/feeling of your flights. If you want you can download the free trial, send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you the profiles I've created so far, again, you'll be amazed. Now I can hand fly all the airplanes in my hangar without the need to put that sticksensitiveness=0 s*** in the FS9.cfg file. I only have to play a little with the bumps and vibration sections to make FSForce even better. My public congratulations to Russell for a great work :-beerchug Carlos.PS: I have a MS Force Feedback two, but it should work the same way with your Saitek

Carlos, I have a ms ff 2 as well, but I find that when I activate ff within fs9 it dosn't work for me. When I turn autopilot on, for instance, the stick comes back all the way on it's own. It just acts weird. Does FSForce require you to activate ff with the sim or is totally separate? Sounds like a neat product.billg

From whatI read, FS Force force feedback has nothing to do with FS. You actually switch FF off in the sim. Allcott

Allcott is right, in fact, is required for FSForce to have the force feedback disable within Flight Simulator.FSForce takes care of the forces in your joystick through a module which by the way won't hit a bit your FPS.It's a neat program, a must have for joystick owners with force feedback.Carlos.

cool, thx Allcott, I think I'll give it a go. There was an offer of a profile in an earlier post--if you could send me one too I'd appreciate it. :-)rgds,billg

I can't believe the furor that erupted after this product was introduced. I use it every day and absolutely love it. The $$ that I paid for the Microsoft FF2 joystick were definitely NOT worth it with Microsoft's drivers (software). It took a guy like Russell Dirks (FSForce developer) to take the bull by the horns and finally do something about it. Without FSForce and Active Camera, I would not be enjoying this sim as I am today. The $35.OO that I spent on this software is used EACH AND EVERY DAY THAT I FLY! That's more than I can say about the very many payware planes that I spent a fortune on over the years and use some so very infrequently. There is nothing that I spent so little on that I use so very much. I am patiently waiting for the update that the developer promised in the Spring: Adding "turbulence" to the forces already felt in the program. That will be very cool to feel the hard bumps of turbulence. The update will be free to registered users.Pay no attention to those who say you are not supposed to feel things through the stick. That may be true....but unless you have a self-contained cockpit next to your computer or an electronic CHAIR so that you can feel the bumps in your posterior, the FSForce module is as close as anyone's going to get.In my humble but vociferous opinion....don't wait. Get FSForce today! You won't be sorry. Stan

I have always praised FS Force because I immediately noticed how many light years it is ahead of the default FS force feedback system. The first time I noticed how bad the default FF system is in FS was when I played IL2. The FF in IL2 is fantastic, and FF definitely rivals it!I also use it every day, and must say I couldn't fly without it!James
