April 21, 201214 yr Hey folks, as promised here's something a little different from me this time. Part 3 of the Canary Island Hopping tour, this time on P-51D Mustang under VFR conditions. Enjoy, and for the full report follow this link: Canary Island Hopping Vol.3: VFR – SPC to VDE
April 21, 201214 yr Hi Max Just got this bird. Can you please advise me as to how I stop her pulling to one side when trying to take off, assuming it is a Warbirds Sim aircraft? Thanks. Rick Almeida
April 21, 201214 yr Author Thanks! Just got this bird. Can you please advise me as to how I stop her pulling to one side when trying to take off, assuming it is a Warbirds Sim aircraft? Hi Rick! This is the A2A/Wings of Power P-51. Though I know what you mean, so try plenty of rudder during take-off to counter her tendency to go to the left. The P-51 will always do that because of her massive engine and all the power that's unleashed during take-off. Also lock the tail wheel (if not done so already) for take-off. Should be Shift+G or something like that. Right now I'm still trying to figure out how to properly taxi with her while on the ground. She truly behaves like a Mustang, and goes wherever she wants.
April 21, 201214 yr Hi Max Thanks very much for that. I originally wanted to get the A2A but as the Warbirds version was on a sale at a mere $17, and it had reviewed well, I could not resist it. Yeah, she sure has so much kick. Will try. Fantastic shots. What scenery is that BTW? Rick Almeida
April 21, 201214 yr Author What scenery is that BTW? It's the Simwings/Aerosoft Canary Islands scenery. Not exactly state-of-the-art, but still very enjoyable.
April 21, 201214 yr It's the Simwings/Aerosoft Canary Islands scenery. Not exactly state-of-the-art, but still very enjoyable. Thanks for that. Unfortunately, I've only got the the same Simwings/Aerosoft 2004 version and there is no patch available, I think, to upgrade it to FSX. Rick Almeida
April 21, 201214 yr Author Thanks for that. Unfortunately, I've only got the the same Simwings/Aerosoft 2004 version and there is no patch available, I think, to upgrade it to FSX. That's right. I'm still using FS9, so that's no problem for me. Sim Giants released some of the Canary airports for FSX. Only GCXO, GCFV and GCHI though. And they released GCLP as freeware, at least that's what it says here: http://www.sim-giants.com/products.asp?mc=3
April 21, 201214 yr Thanks for that HU, Max. Yes, I've got those sceneries but had an awful job trying to configure them out as they leave double .bgls around and it looks like a plane is floating on a hard apron. Since doing a complete FSX re-install, have not got around to a re-install of those sceneries. Rick Almeida
