I just want to use the voice for simple commands such as takeoff and landings. Flaps up gear down and up can I bypass the cold dark and just use what I need?

Yes, you can bypass cold and dark.

 

Just don't press the Run PF button, which stands for Run Pre-Flight events.

 

Just advance the mode to "Takeoff" and go from there.
