April 26, 200422 yr I have a Dell 8300 with a Pentium 4 of 3.2 Ghz, 2Gb of RAM, ATI Pro Radeon9800 128 DDR. In the recent weeks, I have virtually been unable to complete a single flight. FS9 suddenly crashes to the desktop without error messages. I fly the 747 200 RFP and the PMDG 737 NG most frequently and also operate FS Navigator in the background, nothing else. My traffic volume is on 70% and I do not necessarily use weather (today I had none). I also use an extensive set of GoFlight module (and had done so for the past 15 months with no problem). These crashes happen after more than one hour inflight, and I cannot correlate a particular event with the crash, since it may happen when I do not touch anything, or when I switch from one view to the next. Would the above give anybody a hint about what I am experiencing and how eventually I could get out of it? Any help would be extremely appreciated. Best regards,
April 26, 200422 yr Have you tried removing your computer case cover to see if, 1) the fans are clean and turning properly, 2) the problem is solved since more air is lowering the heat load. Most BIOS have a health page, try opening the BIOS and see if it shows the CPU and case temperatures.W. April 26, 200422 yr Could be scenery- have you added anything lately? ( a scenery area or modified textures ) If so try removing - working your way back until you find the addon thats causing it.Possible other cause my be the so called "seasonal Bug " which effects some users.Somewhere on here you'll find a link to a fix for that(search posts)- sorry can't tell you where as I haven't had the problem so far.Dave
April 27, 200422 yr Most likely it's the seasonal CTD bug. Do a search right here on CTD fix. There are several threads that have fixes. The most notable being Joachim's "German" fix. Maybe someone will have the link to his web page, I can't find it at the moment.Lee Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090
April 27, 200422 yr Author Many thanks for your tips, they are all valid. I relocated my computer which was probably not ventilated enough where it was previously, and I am now making an inventory of those regions where I had crashes close to sceneries that might be the cause. In fact several of those FS9 crashes did happen in the same areas, that would lead me to believe that some of those add-ons are the culprits, I will deactivate them one by one and check.Would mesh cause such a crash as well, one area has only a mesh, no scenery?Again many thanks for your help, it is great to have this kind of friendly assistance!Best regards,
April 27, 200422 yr I think if you're flying around in southern France for example with no perticular addons its 99,9% certain its the seasonal bug.You could try to see if it happens with summer/winter season as well.If you need to look into the seasonal crash to desktop bug, the german patch that seemed to fix it is here:http://jobia.bei.t-online.de/crashdes.htmNote: it is in german only though, but together with the many seasonal CTD threads on this forum it should provide further help on it.
April 27, 200422 yr Author You are smack on target, one of the areas I have trouble with is located approximately 50 NM north of Nice, I have yet to be able to complete one single flight north of Nice with any aircraft! Except when I fly at night...Thanks for the link, I will use it!Best regards,
