Windows 8 Consumer Preview Compatible?

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm planning to build a new PC in June/July and I think I'll use the W8 Consumer Preview as my main OS until W8 is released. My only concern is that Flight might not be compatible. So does anyone know if it will work? Flight is quite new so my guess is that it should work fine.

I doubt you have anything to worry about. I'm fairly certain that Microsoft will make sure their new game works well on their new OS.

In fact, it wouldn't surprise me a bit if the basic free download portion of Flight is already installed in the final RTM build right alongside Solitaire, Minesweeper and whatever other free games they include. Think about what a great demo flying in a VC would be for Win8's focus on touchscreens, tapping away at the cockpit controls with your fingers.

Lol, You know, that is actually very interesting. The way that MSFlight is set up with the mouse controls would actually make it very very easy to play on a tablet.

I would never think of playing flight on a tablet, but now it peaks my interest. I am going to remote in with mine and give it a try one of these days.

Also, with staying on topic, I dont think you will have any issue with Windows 8. Most things will probably be backwords compatible (just like using windows vista drivers on windows 7 boxes, ect)

Give it a try and update.

It would be pretty neat on a tablet, using the accelerometers for the yoke. Very limiting, in practice, but a great demo for the device and OS.

Flight works well under Win8 customer preview.
