Scenery details
I agree with everything said in this thread. What I really appreciate is that they over ran the boundaries of Alaska to include a bit of northwestern BC which, for many years, was home to me. The landclass that they created for that area is nothing less than amazing. Farms were placed in the exact location of those in the real world. Whoever did that area was very informed about the Telegraph Creek area. So much so that I wonder if they had been there or lived there at one time.

I second Don B's post. Thanks Jeroen.

At least I still have... The Maule
Fuel starvation... the cub does not have a fuel system tailored for aerobatics.

At least I still have... The Maule
IMO,as a STOL aircraft, the Maule is near the top in its payload class, comparable to the Cessna 180 but behind the Helio Courier. It was my favorite in Flight until they released the Carbon Cub.

Some info from Mathijs Kok on flights demise.
Slipping to lose altitude in Flight is easy. I use it frequently because I habitually am too high on final. Flight bush strips often have a tall tree right on the end of the runway.

The problem with non-FLIGHT, non-ELITE simulators...
I upgraded my system because Flight would not run smoothly on it. FSX was hopeless. I upgraded to an I7 2600 processor, a nvidia GTX 570 graphics card and as much ram as I could put on my motherboard. Yup... that did the trick... furthermore the system runs FSX with most of the sliders to the max at a very consistent 40 FPS and no tweaking.

Possible next plane?
Looking at the image quality of the picture of the rumored C46 I question that it is an image put there by Microsoft.

Possible next plane?
I have little doubt that the aircraft is a C46... Its payload of 7000 kg. is far greater than any freight missions that Flight has to date

Flight- First toughts a little to harsh!
I was fortunate that MSFlight included my home base in the Alaska DLC. In the real world I only flew two different aircraft and never tired of them, although the PA12 was favored over the Cherokee. High wing has much better ground visibility which is paramount in bush flying. FSX sits on my hard drive and gets sporadic use and only when I get a hankering to fly heavies or anything that FSX has to offer.... I guess that would mean nearly anything that Flight does not have. I wish that at some point in the future MS continues to develop Flight because for this old bush pilot, Flight is as good as it gets.. at this point in time.

Still some new content to be released - whoop!
I wonder if the permission to use Cessna aircraft went over to LM. My guess for a new aircraft would go to a smaller company or one that they have permissions from already.

I second that with one reservation... if its a plane it must have a cockpit.

Level 44
I have encountered, on several occasions, individuals whose profile says they are level 44 . They cannot be targeted in the game and they have very few achievements. Can anyone shed more light on this?

Will the last person to leave please....
I never quit Flight at all . Although my home base is at Dease Lake BC, the high rez scenery extends to about twenty miles east of my strip. There are even buildings and a fuel tank .. both empty. I will stay here till something better is made. I like the cub the best but the maule being faster is used for the longer hauls. I like the trim increments better on the cub.

The End of Flight?
Mountain flying in a light aircraft such as the cub requires a pilots ability to read the terrain and predict that terrain's effect on the winds and turbulence. I have had several frightening experiences that had I followed some of the basic rules for mountain flying, I would not have encountered problems. For example it is always best to fly on the windward side of a mountain as opposed to the leaward side. If in doubt suffer the turbulence and fly in the middle of the valleys. I have yet to find a sim that emulates this. Flight comes close but does not deliver the 1000 ft downdrafts that are found predictably in some areas.

Flight post mortem.
With the release of Alaska, Flight I allowed me to fly to my RW home base. Until another sim can provide better mesh , flight model, and the feeling of almost being there, I will continue to use Flight as my main. FSX will be my second . Nothing much has changed for me except that I will no longer be dreaming of new DLC for Flight.

The A to B syndrome and the Carbon Cub
My RW flying for the most part was in a PA12, which was a little slower than the Carbon Cub. Performance wise it could not come close to that of the CC. Almost all my flights were point A to point A because it was my father's aircraft hence a lot of restrictions. The aircraft was our only transportation during the winter months but did not get used much ... Its cold flying in a cub or PA12.. They didn't have much for a stove. The plane sure made hunting easier. In the summer, however I flew a lot in the evening when the air was calm and the scenery was beautiful. Most of the flights were around an hour in length. There were two airstrips within a half hour flight.... no facilities and they were like a rollercoaster..
