May 2, 201214 yr Having owned the Black Box 737 Professional for a few months now, it would seem they have every intention of not providing an update to fix the CTDs. Given a simple fix by deleting a file that's key to sounds with the product, there's been no other updates. Is anyone in the loop? I've sent an email to no avail. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
May 2, 201214 yr It would be kind of difficult for you to have owned it for a few months; it was in fact only released for sale on the I think the 10th of March, might even have been later than that LOL But to answer the question, there is a post on their forums about it which does say: 'We are currently looking into the cause of the issue, but we do have a workaround that will prevent crashes. Our support team will be able to provide you with that.' So hopefully they are working on it, and you could always post on that thread anyway if you've not had a support reply. I've found that posting on the JF forums usually unjams any issues you have with slow support from them. Like I said. :Phbbbt: Haha! Thanks for the link. I've ended up exchanging the bird for something else, as I've got my Captain Sim 737. The friends at Just Flight know customer service, that's for sure. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
May 2, 201214 yr Commercial Member A couple of months. Like I said. :Phbbbt: Haha! Its 2th of May now. Its not yet two months from the date when you bought it, so no couple of months, just one and few weeks from second one. Mmh to me they emailed pretty long time ago that they are looking at the cause of this problem. But I have been mostly happy with it, its enough to serve me till milviz gets their 737 out which will be most likely better than any of current original 737s out there.
May 2, 201214 yr Captain Sim 737 How is it? I haven't heard much about it. Systems wise, how would you say that it compares to the NGX? I personally am a bit spoiled by the NGX so anything less won't please me. haha
May 2, 201214 yr Author Its 2th of May now. Its not yet two months from the date when you bought it, so no couple of months, just one and few weeks from second one. Why so pedantic? Why? Lol How is it? I haven't heard much about it. Systems wise, how would you say that it compares to the NGX? I personally am a bit spoiled by the NGX so anything less won't please me. haha As you know, I'm spoiled by the NGX as well! You and I probably have just about the same taste, so keep in mind I'm a huge 737 lover and the 737-200 series is the most beautiful aircraft ever built (in my eyes). Keep that in mind, and know that's it's just a nice touch above anything they've (CS) released before. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
May 2, 201214 yr I'm pretty sure that date is a pre-order purchase date; I know I pre-ordered it, and that was on the 10th, but I'm just messing anyway, I know what you meant LOL Anyway, the point is really that you've got it sorted to your satisfaction Zach, so that's cool. In regards to how it compares to the NGX, the short answer would be that it doesn't, however, the fair answer would probably be that it isn't really the kind of product which is intended to be compared to it. That is to say it is a more basic, 'does most of what you'd want' kind of simulation rather than the 'does pretty much anything you'd want' kind of simulation that the PMDG NG is, especially when the NG has far more complex avionics. The price difference is another pointer to the relative merits of the two. So, on the JF 200ADV, the overhead works, the main panel works, it has a decent set of radios, and the autopilot is a reasonable facsimile of the one found on some (not all) 200ADVs. Thus you can do 'proper' simulation with it. It is pretty low on polygons (good for FPS, less brilliant for screenshots), so the VC is what you'd perhaps call adequate rather than of the type of visually mega-detailed thing Captain Sim have done with their 200. I quite like it for its low systems overhead, and I think it flies reasonably well too, but you are more likely to be impressed with the CS one than the JF one if the truth be told, although not because they are significantly different from a basic flight simming standpoint. I've not had any system crashes with it, but some people evidently have, so that's something else to be aware of, obviously, although if they are working on it, then good on them, since they did also suggest they may do an alternative AP option for it as well when looking at a patch. This means that the smart thing to do really, at least for the moment if you want a 200, is to either wait and see, what with the MILVIZ one also on the way, or if you can't wait, go for the Captain Sim one.
