"Aerocache of the Day" count reset & correction on 5/3/12

Featured Replies

Upon noticing that my GFWL "aerocache of the day" count had decreased by 17 today, I posted this on the Steam forum as a reply to a thread entitled "More aerocache of the day bugs ?" This was my first Steam post ever.

I also had my "aerocache of the day" count drop by 17 aerocaches from 45 of 50 to 23 of 50 as this count relates to the GFWL pentacontacache award. I think this new count of 23 of 50 correctly reflects the individual aereocaches that I have scored and correctly deletes the duplicate aerocaches that I previously have scored.

Can I get a witness from any MS Flight dev that may read this thread? By the way, thanks for the wonderful game. Keep up the good work. Make it Flight Simulator Eleven when you get the time and budget. It'll sell, as testified to in AVSIM forums.

Also, there is a second "XP Grinder" GFWL award that also has a requirement for 500,000 experience points to earn. I've got just over one million and five hundred thousand XP. I have been awarded the first "XP Grinder" GFWL award. Any comment on this second XP Grinder award? Thanks in advance, Bob Dunn in Seattle...

Where do you get the time to earn so many xp's?

My high experience points resulted mostly from "clandestine missions" flown at night, as they are XP rich. Such missions require searching magenta airfield job boards with the Maule selected as the aircraft. It seems to help clandestine missions to show up as available jobs if night or dusk plus one hour are selected in the free flight conditions. I have read here in AVSIM of "Pirate Captains". I am but a "Pirate Mate" No one sees this number, tho. To bolster my on line Flight credibility, I have lately been concentrating on GFWL points, which is why the deletion of my "aerocache of the day" points were somewhat disappointing. "Pentacontacache"award is worth 50 of these GFWL points, which fellow flyers CAN see. I have read here in AVSIM of the five million XP flyers. (See "A bunch of 5's" thread by Mr. Fred Steiner from 4/25/12). I'm afraid I've been letting my chores slide a bit and gaming late into the evening but MS Flight has me once again interested in simming. I have since reengineered my flight desk (ergodynamically if not artistically) and have once again started flying FSX and X-plane 9, which I've been away from for far too long. The demo of X-plane 10 is loaded up now and awaits my efforts to get it going before I send Austin Meyer my eighty bucks (which I'm now all hot to do). Thanks for asking.

Do you prefer a particular sim?

That is, FSX is more sim, but I've never done x-plane.

MSF is refreshing and has lots of potential.

Hi, InboundFour953. PM me here or email me @ RSDunn at yahoo and I'll go on and on with you. Flight is graphically intense but it's marketing is an emotional roller coaster with me. I don't have FSX 3PD stuff but I'm now hot to buy some scenery and utilities. I've found X-plane quite challenging to get running right and my machine is plenty capable. I will probably go with Mr. Meyer's work of art but I'm looking with rapt anticipation at Prepare3D on DirectX 11.

I replied to Mr. delafina with this:

Thank you ever so much, Mr. delafina. You have no idea how very far MS Flight's acknowledgments, comments and advice go to garner gamer good will, 'specially with the simmers. I'd love to see you over at AVSIM sometime, as your wisdom and comments are often relevantly reposted there. We appreciate all you do for our immersive hobby.

I do believe I'm getting a little too big for my britches with presumptuous comments like the above and I think I'll cut it out. Apologies if I overstepped my credibility.

Apologies if I overstepped my credibility.

Just wanting to mention your credibility will go further with Delafina if you don't refer to her as "Mr.". Just so you know...

I so appreciate your correction, Mr. meshman. I am red with embarrasment. I must hasten back to Steam, correct myself and apologize. Thank you so much.

Wedge the Jedi from Microsoft Game Studios just posted this aerocache explanation on the Steam thread being discussed here.

Thanks for reporting this but this is to be expected. Let me explain as that might sound odd

Now that we've run through all the Aerocaches again and flipped their time slots we had to reset their availability time on the server to dates in the future. This causes your stats to appear that you have 'lost' some Aerocaches as your total count has gone down. This however does not mean that your Aerocache total count is permanently overwritten, the back end server still sees that you have the Aerocache but the game doesn't count it in your total as the current date is not past the availability date of the Aerocache. If you go to MicrosoftFlight.com and log in there you will see your true Aerocache count as it correctly tallies them there. Once the Aerocaches of the Day come up again in the rotation you should already have credit for them and your count should go up by 1 for each. It should also show that you already have the Aerocache when on the Aerocache Hunt screen.

If you have not yet reached the 50 for the Pentacontacache achievement you won’t get it awarded until after enough of the Aerocaches come back through the rotation to get you to 50 from the game’s point of view. You shouldn’t have to find them again, but just the new ones you didn’t have before to get to 50.

We'll try to address in a future release the fact that it doesn't count Aerocaches found if they are set to appear in the future. Sorry for the confusion and that this messaging didn't go out sooner.

If you experience behavior other than what I described above when the Aerocaches you already got come back up in the rotation please let us know.

Thanks very much for the information, Robert. People should not worry too much about the in-game score, all the Aerocaches they have acquired are still theirs and when each particular Hunt comes up again, they will automatically be awarded the ones they already did, I think.

Best regards.

Luis

An interesting thing about the aerocache reset. (I too lost 17), Yestereday I had 106, and this morning I had 89. After flying the Aerocache for today, I'm back at 90. But....I got the award for 100 Aerocaches on 4/29, and the award still shows as being completed. It shows 90 of 100! Just a little glitch in the way records are kept. I guess once you earn an award, you don't lose it.
