Enhancing Flight Simulator 2004 ...

Featured Replies

Hi,I'd like to enhance Flight Simulator 2004 and I'd like to collect your different points of view regarding FS2004 add-ons.I mostly fly in France and in Europe.1) Which are the best MESH files ? FSGenesis (payware) ones or Pietro MAURI (freeware) ones ?2) Which are the best textures ? FScene Europe (payware) or freeware textures available in AVSIM Library ?3) Is MyWorld2004 Landclass worth buying ?4) Which add-on is the best according to you ? Project AI (freeware), MyTraffic2004 2.0 (payware) or Ultimate Traffic (payware) ?Thank you for your answers.Hope these questions will help other people to choose their add-ons.Regards,;-)Damien BRUNET - LFQQ.http://perso.club-internet.fr/udb/Logos/Banniere_UDB.jpg

Hi,This is all really going to come down to personally preference, but1) I use FSGenesis stuff, to me it seems to best2) I have not tried the FScene textures, they seem very expensive, so I use the blueshpere freeware textures, and I like them very much3) I brought it, and I like it very much, in my opinion its worth it4) None, I dont use any of those, I prefer to hand install all my traffic, that way I have total control over what I see and where I have my traffic, but if I were to use one of the above it would have to be PAI, I simply cannot see the reason to spend money on something you can do just aswell for free.Dan

Not everybody has hours to install every PAI package! and even then you aren't getting all the flights (no fed ex, UPS, etc)With Ultimate Traffic, You install it, run the updater, compile a new traffic file, and you're done. All for 30 bucks. Well worth it when you see your airports come alive just like realityFSGenesis has a few freeware US meshes that are awesome, west coast US and the Rockies. And their freeware landclass file is a must as well.As far as textures I have Chris' night texture replacements, fsw cloud textures, and I'm still looking for day textures.

>1) Which are the best MESH files ? FSGenesis (payware)>ones or Pietro MAURI (freeware) ones ?Mesh is mesh - numerical data. I haven't encountered bad ones. There is a ton of good freeware mesh under FS2002 that works just fine in FS9. Payware is good too. Payware usually covers large areas at once therefore is more convenient to install. There is also a product called "FS Terrain" on 4 CDs that covers USA and Europe.>2) Which are the best textures ? FScene Europe>(payware) or freeware textures available in AVSIM>Library ?Very subjective. As a pilot I am partial to BlueSphere - great textures from pilot's perspective. Very refined and subtle work. And his fix of the dreadful 'mist' problem in FS9 is most welcome.Michael J.
