June 1, 201214 yr Yes they do, and the Nimitz is CVN-68. CVN means it is a nuclear propelled carrier, and they are numbered chronologically from when they are laid down. Other carrier prefixes are: CV (aircraft carrier), CVA (attack aircraft carrier) CVB (large aircraft carrier) CVL (light aircraft carrier) CVAN (attack aircraft carrier with nuclear propulsion). Numerically, every carrier after CV-59 (the USS Forrestal) is generally regarded as a Supercarrier, i.e. with a displacement of over 70,000 tons, and the Nimitz has a displacement of 100,000 tons, so it is certainly one of those). June 1, 201214 yr The military especially the navy logs flight time differently than civilians do. Since the aircraft carrier moves around all the time, may be involved in combat and or classified operations. They don't identify routes like a civilian would. Infant their logbooks are basically summaries of flight time, based on flights and sorties , then broken down into various conditions of flight, night time, IFR, Aircraft commander, Copilot etc... Looks something like this... http://navalaviator.net/logbook/tour/Navy%20Flight%20Time%20Summary.html And then they get a "trap summary" http://navalaviator.net/logbook/tour/Trap%20Summary_1.html A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools. - Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
