June 1, 201214 yr Hi there people. During gameplay especially when i have it set to cloudy/foggy particulary in built up aread or areas in high detail the gameplay goes in kind of slow motion... I am using something called FSX Booster but it still doesnt completely fix the issue. Im quite surprised that as i think the PC i use is quite high spec. It is: AMD-A8-3820 APU With Radeon HD Graphics (HD 6550D) 2.5 Ghz, 4 GB RAM, 64bit OS Win 7. Can someone advise me for adjustments to settings which allows me to still see buildings etc and hills but stops this slow motion like gameplay? Thanks guys.
June 1, 201214 yr Marty, I hate to tell you this, but you used the word "Gameplay" in your subject. I just wanted to let you know that this is very hurtful to many here on the forums because we have to listen to that word at home all the time if you know what I mean. Lets try to use the word "simulation" moving forward. Ok, all kidding aside. Personally I am not familiar with your hardware. It might help someone is familiar with your hardware to also understand what addons you are using such as scenery, ai etc. This will help tremendously. Regards Bob Officially retired
June 1, 201214 yr Author Yes ur absolutely right Bob i must remember it is indeed a simulator and not a game! Thanks for your reply. Im hoping someone can help me as its been bugging me for quite some time! Thanks anyway!
June 1, 201214 yr First thing's first, make sure you have all forms of shadowing turned off in the FSX graphical settings. Also, turn down the visibility range as well as the cloud complexity and that ought to help a bit. Traffic settings can also be turned down/off, water quality should be set to no higher than 2.x low, and autogen on your hardware shouldn't be above the mid setting. Also you should give Bojote's tweak utility a shot and have it fix up your FSX.cfg for you. Beyond that I think you're just going to get recommendations for new hardware, as what you have isn't really up to par for running FSX at anything approaching high settings. The AMD A series chips are arguably mid-range at best, though they do deliver admirable graphics performance (for integrated graphics), though sadly AMD hardware is just not well-suited to running FSX.
June 1, 201214 yr "Gameplay" :Nerd:   .............The "Flight" Forum is that way ------------------> :LMAO: just kidding!
June 1, 201214 yr Author haha! Thanks very much for that guys! My apologies for saying this forums biggest swear word! I will give those settings a go mate and if i dont get far i wouldl ove to know all your views on some decent hardware tips! Thanks again
June 1, 201214 yr Commercial Member Hi Marty, Your current CPU (2.5ghz) is a huge bottleneck. FSX framerate is greatly affected by processor speed. You will start seeing smoothness + very high detail with speeds in excess of 3ghz and up. That's why you will see many FSX users with overclocked i5's and i7's, with some running 4.4ghz. Cheers
