June 4, 201214 yr Hello MD11-captains out there, I've been flying with the PMDG MD11 combined with fs2crew now for a while (FSX) and it really is a great sim-combination!! Thanks to both development teams for the great work! I've been experiencing a strange issue, though: Sometimes when spooling up the engines during takeoff I get a "engine fail" warning above the PFD. There is no sound and the lamp extinguishes by itself when reaching a certain speed, still I would like to know why this happens. I set up the fs2crew panels as it is supposed to be (with the correct v-speeds and so on) and I use the green button to activate the function "take off roll" - FO says "thrust set" and "80, clamp" and then sometimes the light comes up... Is there a random failure function in fs2crew which is supposed to underline the need to stay focused on the procedures even if failures are not activated in the PMDG settings?? Or am I just setting thrust too fast or too slow?? Actually I try not to "kick down" thrust during takeoff but move the levers gently forward... Kind regards, kriggelb Christian Baldauf
June 5, 201213 yr Commercial Member Hi, FS2Crew doesn't model failures, or induce them. You must have a random failure set in the MD-11. I'd also ask the PMDG MD-11 support forum. Cheers, B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
June 5, 201213 yr Author Hello Bryan, thanks for the answer! In the meantime I got an idea: Could it be that this warning can illuminate when spooling up the engines during take off after lining up on the runway without stopping the aircraft?? It seems as if the problem doesn't occur when lining up, stopping and then accelerating from 0 kts to Vr... Kind regards, kriggelb Christian Baldauf
