June 5, 201214 yr Current Flight Sim Deal of the Day is Captain Mike Ray's 'Flying the Boeing 700 Series Simulators' PDF version for just 11.97 Dollars. This is an excellent primer for anyone wanting to get into flying complex jetliners in either FS or X-Plane, since it explains how to do it all properly, in a very easy and likeable way. Mike Ray is a retired United Airlines Captain who flew several different Boeing jetliners during his career, and so he really does know his stuff, but he also knows that all that stuff can be overwhelming for those who are new to sims, or in particular new to fancy add-on jet airliners, and who may be stumbling over the complexities of all the technical terminology of FMCs, VNAV, LNAV and all that other stuff, so he explains it in a way that is easy to follow and will have you flying like a pro in no time at all. Thoroughly recommended, and especially at this price: http://www.flightsimdealoftheday.com/ Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
June 5, 201214 yr Al, Tuesday is also the special additional 10% off, which makes it that much better. June 5, 201214 yr Author That's true, so it'd be about ten bucks, which is a steal for that kind of gen to be honest. Even those who are reasonably familiar with jets in FS could learn a thing or two from it. I have a paper ring bound copy of it, and I think it's a gem for simmers who are wanting to get into the big iron and who might think that an FMC looks confusing. June 9, 201213 yr Hi All Al I have a question, how does one enter a percentage sign on a CDU? May seem like dumb question but it's not if you do not know how. That little zero is not on the CDU key pad. Thanks in advance and also for the heads up mate........John
June 9, 201213 yr Author Basically, you don't. Any input on an CDU field will automatically read the numbers you put in as the required type of data, i.e. if you have to put a speed in, you just type the number, with no need to type 'knots' after it, and it is the same for any percentage value. For example, if you want a centre of gravity value of 22 percent, you just put 22 in the scratchpad and then click on the line select key next to the GoG field, and in it goes.
