Scenery problem

Featured Replies

Can any one have the answer to my problem. I was moving items up in the scenery library when all scenery was lost. All that was left were the ticks. I did a FX repair and then had 4

items showing. Edwards AFB Berlin Longleat Istanbul Reno and all the ticks showing. Yet in flightsim all the scenery is showing when I fly.

Not sure if I totally understand what you are asking?

The scenery in the scenery library is set by priority. basically the higher scenery or lower numbers ie 1,2,3 should be "local" sceneries (which might be a specific airport), then followed by "regional" sceneries (which might be say an area outside of an airport or a whole state or province or county), then followed by "world wide sceneries (ie whole continents, or global).

Moving a global scenery or regional scenery above (higher in priority) a local airport might completely hide that airport from view in FSX.

Not sure why you moved scenery layers, good to not mess with this much unless you know what you are doing. Maybe you could be specific on what you were doing and why so that we can provide specific advice.

Moving scenery up and down in the Scenery Library can take up system resources. Take a look in the scenery.cfg (located in C:\Program Data\Microsoft\FSX) and make sure the areas/layers are the same numbers for each area and make sure they are in numerical sequence. The ProgramData folder is hidden so you'll have to make sure your folders and directories are not hidden. You can also go to the Scenery Library and click on Edit Area and see where it takes you to make sure the scenery is installed.

Did you say you did a repair of FSX? If so, make sure you do a repair for SP1, SP2 or just Acceleration, as applicable.

Jim

Hi What I was doing was moving Duxford up above VFR Photo scenery as I had just loaded all 3 VFRs with updates after a problem with losing all my scenery in flightsim. It seemed to be at the same time as a XP undate came from microsoft the day before that I lost all my scenery. so I removed all VFR files and reloaded them. Then after the reload I moved Duxford up by priority and all scenery went out of the library with just ticks showing. I did also when doing the repair do a repair on acceleration.

So I may ended up with the 4 at numbers 1-4 in the library. Maybe the only way is to take off FX complete and have to reload everything in flightsim,

Thanks Firehawk4l and Ist Fltsimguy for any help can can offer from Bryan

The original scenery.cfg (not working) is located in the same location as the FSX.cfg. You can copy it and then paste it in the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX folder then add your scenery again. Do not delete the one in the folder with FSX.cfg.
