Keyboard/Joystick Assignment Problem

Featured Replies

Just purchased FS2Crew for the NGX and have activated the Button Control Version 1.5. All is working fine EXCEPT:

I cannot seem to get keyboard/joystick commands to open Main or Secondary panel. Here's what I've done so far:

*FSX opens with Trike

*When switching to NGX it opens in 2-D Window

*Assigned Ctrl+Shift+M and Joystick Button 8 to "ALTERNATE STATIC SOURCE (ON/OFF)"

*Assigned Ctrl+Shift+S and Joystick Button 7 to "PROPELLER SYNC (ON/OFF)"

*Verified no conflict with button assignment in NGX's FMC

In fact deleted ALL button assignments in NGX (don't use them)

*Checked NGX panel.cfg file and there are 6 entries for FS2Crew

window21=FS2Crew Main Panel

window22=FS2Crew Configuration Panel

window23=FS2Crew Marshaller Panel

window24=FS2Crew PA Panel

window25=FS2Crew FA Panel

window26=FS2Crew Briefing Panel

*Clicking the Standby panel opens the Main panel normally

*all sub panels work fine

FS2Crew is working fine except for the Keyboard shortcuts and joystick controls.

Any idea what else I can check or do to resolve this problem

Hi David,

There's no available assignment to open the Secondary Panel, but there is one for the Main Panel.

From the manual:

You can also assign a Keyboard or Joystick button to open and close the Main Panel.

  • To create your "Toggle Main Panel" assignment, create a joystick or keyboard button assignment for 'AUTOFEATHER (ARM/OFF)' in the FSX 'SETTINGS - CONTROLS' menu

  • You can select any Joystick or Keyboard assignment (or both).

IMPORTANT: Your PMDG 737 NGX
cannot
use the same key assignment for any PMDG 737 NGX Key Command function, or the Main Button will not work!

So, for example, if you use "C" as your keyboard assignment for the Main Button, you cannot use "C" for any PMDG 737 NGX KEY ASSIGNMENTS.

Note: You can also assign a joystick button/ keypress to the Brief Panel the same way by assigning a button to the WATER RUDDER event.

I was referring to the "Main & Secondary Button Setup" on page 3&4 of the Button Control Manual. Neither Keyboard or Joystick functions work

Just compared the verbiage in your post "from the manual" which is from page 25 of the Voice Control Manual. The verbiage in the Button Control Manual is completely different.

Fixed the problem-The verbiage in the Button Control Version Manual that came with my download (bought yesterday) says

To create your "Main Button" assignment, create a joystick or keyboard button assignment for 'ALTERNATE STATIC SOURCE (ON/OFF)' in the FSX 'SETTINGS - CONTROLS' menu.

Whereas the Voice Control Version Manual says

Toggle Main Panel" assignment, create a joystick or keyboard button assignment for 'AUTOFEATHER (ARM/OFF)' in the FSX

'SETTINGS - CONTROLS' menu

Assigned my keyboard and joystick to 'AUTOFEATHER (ARM/OFF)' and it's working fine. Obvious misprint in the "Button Control Manual"
