The 739 is buffetting very violently

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

As of writing, I am blasting out of KLAX on the CASTA2 SID to Anchorage in the Alaska 737-900 in the sim. There are calm winds from the North, and I'm nowhere near stall speed. However, I'm encountering countinuous buffetting, that actually isn't letting me see any information on the PFD without having to pause the sim. By buffetting, think how the CS757 used to rock back and forth, except this motion isn't side to side, its up and down.

Any help figuring out whats wrong?

I've had this happen to me.I usually noticed it when I was using autopilot and had the sim speeded up. Disconnect the autopilot and give it another go. Try using hte other one perhaps. I have no idea why this happens. If all else fails, close the sim. I dont think the plane is actually aerodynamically buffeting, but rather something in the sim isnt working properly.

Need more information, what WX are you using? What other addons are you using? What's your controller setup? Could you provide a screen shot?

Using REX to provide weather. Winds were 344 at 0 knots, what kind of addons? I have no scenery installed in the LAX region, but WOAI was present. Saitek Yoke and Throttle Quadrant, as well as their Rudder Pedals.

What are the settings in REX and FSX WX concerning winds and turbulance? Are you using FSUIPC for WX smoothing? Have you followed the introduction documentation recommendations?

Wind smoothing is off in REX, and no I am not using FSUIPC for any type of WX smoothing.

EDIT: found it. I just turned off Accu-feel and all abnormal movement is gone.

Glad you solved it!! Yes, typically this behavior is caused by wx engine issues. IMHO, FSX does not have a realistic methodology simulating turbulence, wind shear and other wind related phenomenon.

Well now this is interesting...I just took the CS 737-200 up for a couple of circuits and experienced the same problem. If anyone else has Accu-feel installed, has this ever happened?
