Boston FS2004 Scenery

Featured Replies

I recently started creating scenery for the city of Boston on FS2004. You can download it free from http://www.ejlmusic.com/scenery

I would appreciate feedback as I've been posting to flightsim.com for a couple of months now while I created it and I'm also going to be creating more as I find time.

The picture looks good but the link doesn't work though.

I'll give this a try real soon today!

Eric,

Very good. I'm not very familiar with the city although I have visited it. Your buildings do enhance the scenery very well. Please consider using a satellite photo for the ground. Perhaps this would even help you with new building positioning. Please also consider modeling some of the buildings from that small technical school across the Charles River, in Cambridge.

I'm not going to do Satellite imagery as FlyTampa's Boston has Boston satellite imagery and I'm only used to creating Building scenery for now. However, I am looking into all the buildings available. Right now, I'm working on Old North Church. I went to college in Boston so I'm looking for the most popular, easy to create, buildings first. I'm going to keep going with whatever scenery I can translate into FS9. I started working on transporting the scenery to FSX also.

Old North Church finished and coming soon....starting work on the Charlestown Bridge

P.S. I've also experimented with success to putting these models in FSX...it might take a while but I'm going to work on it as I can...(and as long as the wife lets me)

Update 7/9/2012

-----------------

I just finished 3 new additions on top of what is already available to download at http://www.ejlmusic.com/scenery

Finished and to be released a little later:

- Charlestown Bridge (aka North Washington Street Bridge)

- Fenway Park (updated model with a crap load of textures (352 to be precise) and relocated to the right place)...I can't believe how much the default scenery is off

- Old North Church

I don't know what I'll do next but I'm going to leave you salivating over some photos of Fenway. The only problem is that the Google Earth Fenway is missing some sides of the model when exported to FS2004 but it really won't effect the overall enjoyment of having the updated Fenway as you fly (which is way!!! better than the default).

Overall Finished or Altered as of 7/9/12

-----------------------------------

Boston Public Library

Bunker Hill Monument (with Tobin Bridge location correction (from default scenery))

Hatch Memorial Shell

John Hancock Building (updated new model with real pic textures and relocated to accurate place)

TD Garden (Boston Celtics/Boston Bruins venue)

USS Constitution

Zakim Bridge

Hynes Convention Center

Prudential Tower (updated new model with real pic textures and relocated to accurate place)

111 Huntington Ave (R2D2 building near Prudential)

101 Huntington Ave (part of Prudential Mall)

* Charlestown Bridge

*Fenway Park

* Old North Church

* - not available for download yet...but will be in the future

So I just noticed, after having to reinstall everything on my laptop due to a virus that just wouldn't leave that my scenery will not line up with the scenery unless Ultimate Terrain is installed. I really don't like nor feel that the default FS9 scenery is accurate without Ultimate Terrain but I just wanted everyone to know that I based all the scenery location on Ultimate Terrain. My scenery will still show in default FS9 scenery but will not line up correctly with the default FS9 scenery without Ultimate Terrain for the US. Post if you think I should have a version of the scenery which will line up with the default FS9 scenery. I might work on it in the future but for now I'm going to continue to create the scenery with Ultimate Terrain installed to help me line it up with the Ultimate Terrain roads (which are plotted accurately with satellite imagery for the entire United States). The coastlines are also done accurately in Ultimate Terrain so it helps line up the bridges. More information on Ultimate Terrain can be found at: http://www.sceneryso....com/index.html

P.S. The scenery files you download are not infected with any virus....I am 110% positive they are clean and ran a virus scan on them just in case which turned up nothing
