Cannot start FSX after Enb install

Featured Replies

Hi.

Much help needed here please.

I saw screenshots with someone using ENB series, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

Downloaded it from flight sim.com and installed it through the .exe file. I also updated by GTX460 graphics drivers to the most recent. I tried to run and got an immediate error message stating my graphics card did not minimum shader requirements and fsx would not load, it just shuts down.

So I decided to role back my driver to the one I was using. I still got the same message. So I decided to uninstall Enb series with the uninstall tool. I still get the same message. Now I'm stuck and need your advice please.

Can anyone offer a solution. I got to the point of a system restore but the last restore point it would give me was just after the Enb install with no earlier times to go back too.

Thanks. Steve

For info this the error message file

How did you install it thru an .exe? All ENB is a .dll, .ini, and sometimes a .bmp if your using a custome palette. Im wondering what you actually installed if it came with an .exe or why such a simple thing would make anyone write an installer for it.

Yeah - a fellow named Gernas (www.gernas.aero) has done an "enbseries+ Water and Environmental Effects" as well, Jim, which loads a modified WaterConstants.dll as well. To remove his package - delete (or rename) d3d9.dll, d3dx9_26.dll, d3dx9.40.dll, enbseries.ini and the WaterConstants.xml. Of course - there are no instructions telling one to backup the original WaterConstants.dll before the installation, nor what actually gets installed............

Guys.

Seems I really messed it up today. I looked at the post links above and they were not quite what I had in terms of error message, though it did lead me to the exact phrase, which basically told me to e-mail my graphics card manufacture for a card that could handle the shader for FSX. Seeing as this has worked perfectly for the past 2 years, it did not seem relevant to me. So I messed with a few things an in the end was not able to start FSX past a message telling me a file needed to load FSX was missing and to repair it.

So I ran repair and it did not work, the second part of the message told me to re-install FSX. So I bit the bullet, uninstalled everything and ran CC cleaner.

Re-installed FSX and it worked. Great I thought. Then I loaded SP1 and SP2. Bang....hit with the same shader message. I am devastated about this and need help desperately.

Thanks

Steve.

I think I cracked it.

A sudden thought was, I had Air Display installed, so FSX may have been looking for this third display, an IPAD, which was not shader compatible, since I updated the PC drivers, un-installed it and now FSX with SP2 works. So, with that out the way, does anyone recommend actually using the ENB series before I mess it all up again.

Thanks

Steve.
