Cabin Crew Idea/Implentation?

Featured Replies

H guys,

I've been thinking of scripting some cabin crew announcements, like safety announcements or asking passengers to fasten their seatbelts during turbelence when switching on the fasten seatbelt signs etc (there are lots of possibilities) and with being able to script everything yourself, it can be customised to whatever airline you are flying. Awesome!

But my concern is that the announcements would be the same volume as what you would hear in the cockpit and would distract from what's trying to be said in the cockpit.

It would be good if we could have two types of cabin crew volume control. One would be the default direct contact in the cockpit where the crew talk to each other and volume would be as normal but then an indirect interaction option where the voulme can be controlled so we can make the announcments slightly muted, such as like hearing the cabin crew announcments through a cockpit door.

What do you guys reckon and do you think it could be done?

Cheers

Hi Dan

Looks like this is going to happen:

Should be doable.

Will probably have a flag that keeps track of where Purser is.

If purser is inside the cockpit, the current volume will be kept, otherwise the volume would be automatically reduced.

And if we can, we'll even add the capability to play custom sounds as part of the script. It could be too soon for the next update though.

By the way, it's possible to edit scripts in Notepad, however one has to keep these in mind.

All commands in the [sCRIPT] section should be written in lower case

Numbers should be written using alphabet (example "two" for 2).

Punctuation is not allowed.

Make sure there is only one blank space between two consecutive words.

Make sure there are no trailing blank spaces at the end of every script command.

Scripted commands should not exceed 128 characters.

That's why it's better to stick to the Voxscript UI, because it will prevent the user making all the mistakes above.
