June 22, 201213 yr As someone who uses a small 30gb SSD for my OS, storage is tight. (And let me just get this out of the way- I'm getting a new SSD within the 4-5 months). All games (including Microsoft Flight) are installed on secondary hard disk drives. I've installed well over 40 games over the past few years and I only experience these kind of issues with Microsoft games specifically; they seem to always install extra things to the root hard drive. After the latest patch, I noticed that my SSD lost about 500mb of space. After some further investigation, I noticed most of the new files were located in the eHome folder (located in C:/ProgramData/Microsoft). After a little investigating it turns out this is specifically something that deals with infrared devices (trackIR). I have no plans to purchase TrackIR for the foreseeable future, so I would really like to get this extra 500mb of crap off my hard drive. Can I simply delete the new files without causing any harm to the game? Thanks in advance for any help! Edit- Just wanted to say that perhaps I'm totally off base with this (definitely assuming a decent bit of information from google). If I'm way off base please let me know. But there's no question that I have lost at minimum 500mb of space of the root drive; nothing has been installed/updated in the past week with the exception of the MS Flight update.
June 22, 201213 yr Open your GfWL and check your Options. It will install default on c: But you can change the harddrive and/or the folder where the updates are installed.
June 22, 201213 yr That's funny, I gained almost 8 GB after the latest patch. But different HD's/SSD's are different. But I don't think deleting the files is a good idea as it may have an effect on the game as well. Just my opinion. June 22, 201213 yr Could you provide a list of the files in that directory? I installed the update as soon as it was available and my eHome folder is empty: That Logs folder is empty as well. Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
June 22, 201213 yr If you were to back the files up onto one of the other non-ssd drives, and then delete, you should theoretically be able to copy them back to their location on the C drive if the Flight installation insists on them being there. disclaimer: I shall not be held responsible for any advice I may give that is directly or indirectly responsible for any computer crashes. Okay, that last bit was just a joke.

Yep, did that a while ago. Thanks anyway though :) Gonna be doing a reinstall sometime soon so that's a good reminder :P Well, Google is your friend... Luis Very strange....I wish I knew how this installed itself (automatic updates/drivers are not enabled). Maybe Windows just decided to move/recreate some files on it's own; that just happened to coincide around the hour I installed the flight patch. Oh well...thanks for the help everyone. Very informative post.
June 22, 201213 yr Author Alright I think I've found the culprit. In the Games for Windows Marketplace settings, everything is set to install/download on the secondary drive (it's been set that way since I first installed it). Yet for some reason I see the Microsoft Flight patch install files stored in my user folder\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\Updates\4d530d2 Hovering over the files in the folder reveals subject: Microsoft Flight Perhaps patches are handeled differently than doing a direct download from Games for Windows Marketplace? Regardless everything is good now. Thanks to everyone for helping me narrow that down :D
