extreme cliffs scenery prob

Featured Replies

It looks like this, and can anyone tell me what I need to do to normalize the cliffs. the shot is the river adjacent to chelan. I wrote to Holger thinking I might have made a mistake installing his new Cascades terrain mesh, but he told me the area where my problem lies is actually south of his coverage. So, any help or ideas is appreciated as his Holger's excellent scenery.Shermhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/77020.jpg

What is the problem? Are you saying the cliffs are too high? If so perhaps one of the mesh gurus can help. If the problem is with the textures then that's how FS does them on vertical faces. I don't really like the stretched nature of the textures but I don't think anything can be done.I've just checked FS on my system and I have the same cliffs as you.

Sort of looks like the new set for "Thelma & Louise II"....... (the road leading to the cliff edge, lower left.....)Still a wish list item for the future - mesh or FS - someway to blend actual mesh data with shorelines, riverbanks, and airfields, without these "cliffs" appearing. To correct all manually, well, I won't live that long......Ron

It is fairly easy to adjust the elevation of the water to match the surrounding mesh using my flatten utility:www.fs-traveler.com/flatten.shtmlRegards,Steve

Howdy, well, in this particular case a flatten switch wouldn't help much. The problem is that the default Columbia River in the Chelan area is misplaced by a couple hundred meters to the southeast. See the screenshot below with the red arrows indicating where the river should be. It's a slight visual issue with the default mesh but greatly enhanced with any high-res add-on mesh. There's only one fix: remove the default river in this area (by editing the default HP9*.bgl file, otherwise the canyon will remain) and move it into the correct spot. I just posted a draft tutorial in the Scenery Design forum on how to edit the default scenery files (I'll upload a final version once I've received feedback) so anyone "suitably disturbed" by this issue can go ahead and do the fixes ;-)Cheers, Holgerhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/77090.jpg
