Flights and destinations ideas for those with little ti...

Featured Replies

Hi there,As I have little time to play, I always want to fly on interesting routes (as far as landscape and approach is concerned), but I was sometimes short of ideas. So I decided to create a database where flight simmers can post their (short) flights ideas: http://www.fsdestinations.com. Among many information on the flight, each one includes the time expected to be spent gate to gate and a powerfull search engine allows virtual pilots to find the right kind of flight for them. It's more oriented for commercial flight flying IFR, but private and VFR is also possible. The database need to be populated, so everybody is welcomed to add his or her prefered flight.Regards.

Good idea. I hope that it's contributed to. I'll look for the details from some of mine before adding.

Very nice site. I'll try to add a few later on. I just flew the KCOS to KDEN one in the DF Cessna 177.

Thanks to all for your comments. Fellow flights simmers are starting to populate the database, and I've been doing some improvements (e.g. you can search a flight taking off or landing in a specific country, instead of just searching by airport ICAO code). We're still in need of your flights ideas, so feel free to go on http://www.fsdestinations.com and let us know what's your best flight!Patrice

Hi,Just a quick reply to give you some news about the project. Thanks to all those who have posted a flight, the database is growing, but your ideas are still welcome. As many people requested, there are additional aircrafts available to describe a flights. Only liners were present, but now, you can post a flight that is operated with a general aviation plane. There are only generics planes (1, 2, 3 or 4 engines), so we avoid to load a hudge list of all the possible planes on Earth. Just as a reminder, the airplane field in the database is not mandatory but is supposed to be filled only if the flight is operated in real life.Another news is the possibility to write a review for a flight (e.g. what was good or what was not), so you can see if the flight worth to be played. In the future, the reviews will be better integrated, so you'll be able to search only for flight that have a review. Also, due to the wider range of fields upon which you can perform a search, there's now a normal (default) and advanced search page.Regards,Patrice

Excellent idea!! Thank you very much for this little gem! Although I generally have lots of time to fly, I find myself staring at the "Create a Flight" screen trying to decide where my travels will take me. I will be posting your web site address in other forums in hopes of encouraging participation.Since I'm not much of a real world traveler, I would really encourage our european and other non-US pilots to add their flights, as this would give us "homebodies" a much broader exposure to the world.Again, thanks for a great idea!!

I stumbled across this site a week or 2 ago - it makes you wonder why no one ever thought of it before. Good work, Patrice, and nice to see the database is growing.

Terrific idea! Are the flights downloadable with nav details included or are they just ideas and descriptions for short flights?Toni.

Hi,For now, it's basically just flights ideas, with reviews from the pilots who tried them, but soon we'll try to add a downloadable flight plan or other stuff (such as NAV maps, though we must be careful because of copyright issue...)Patrice---http://www.fsdestinations.com

Hi there,Check the new homepage at http://www.fsdestinations.com and enjoy "the flight of the day".We have more and more users and flights. Don't hesitate to post yours today!

Hi,A quick note to let you know that after many request from users, we have added the possibility to upload/download flightplans (.pln files of MSFS) with the flight description. Remember that flights are posted by fellow simmers, so if they don't upload any flightplan you won't be able to download it (seems logical, no?).Happy flying on http://www.fsdestinations.com

Hi,Has anyone any idea how to get a list of all airports listed in FS2004? Many users have requested to be able to post flight from/to non-ICAO airports and I don't know where to find a list.

Run CollectAirports, a small utility in the TTools package that will generate a txt file with all the necessary data.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

That's a great idea! Kudos to you for thinking of it. I just registered, btw. Very clean and attractive site design and excellent use of a database. As someone who flies a lot of short flights due to time constraints, I'm sure I'll be using this service a lot.thanks,
