AVSIM Malware Alert - It's For Real!

Featured Replies

In case you haven't already checked, take the Malware Alert from AVSIM seriously. I just ran a scan and the trojan they mentioned was in my system. I am 100% sure I downloaded it from AVSIM. I used the freeware MS Security Essentials and did a full scan - it found it and removed it no problem.

This is probably a better topic for Hangar Chat. That said, I was lucky--the ad blockers in my firefox browser prevented anything nasty happening.

John

Thanks for the heads up Ian. Some how I missed this completely.

The guys from avsim already know about this. http://forum.avsim.n...-malware-alert/

I didn't really mean it as a "topic" so much as a heads up. I was concerned that my FS9 buddies might not have read the announcements. It probably should be on all of the forums - especially as the trojan is due to kick in on Monday. This forum is my AVSIM home and I just wanted to make sure my friends didn't get caugh out

You are mixing up the DNS threat to occur on Monday, with our malware insertion issue that was resolved yesterday. Read the LA Time article here for full details and how you can protect your PC from Monday's event.

Hi Tom

I may have confused details from the two. Confusion is my middle name these days! ^_^

I read an article a week or so ago about the DNS alert and used the suggested tool to look for it - and my computer was clean. What I was wanting to alert my buddies on here to was the possibility that they had downloaded over the past few days a Trojan via AVSIM - I apparently had and got it cleaned up.

Cheers

Ian
