Shipping my fsx computer

Featured Replies

Here's a new one lol. I'm going to a relative's house for a few months and am thinking of bringing my fsx computer as I'm going to have a lot of time. I have the original shipping boxes for the monitor and case so can just ship it on the airline as extra baggage. The computer has an H100 cooler. Should I take this off or should it be fine as is? Any other considerations?

I would open it up once it got there to make sure cards hadn't shifted or anything...

Very interesting topic. I'd say yes, remove the heatsink, but also the video card as they are not 100% fitted solidly. In other words, remove everything that might "wobble" inside your case during the flight. :LMAO:

An H100 should not need to be removed during shipping, assuming you have mounted it properly. If you had a giant heatsink it would be a good idea though.

And most importantly insure it for the entire replacement cost.

Once I had to ship my Veldoyne 2400 watt subwoofer to Velodyne for repair and thank Gawed I insured it for $3000. And guess what, UPS Droped it right there in front of the Velodyne receving clerk and shattered it. And yup..they paid me 3 grand for it. And I got myself a new subwoofer for my HT!

Well packaged, not 100% fixed parts like GPU, cards (H100 should be OK as its quite fixed) should be put into bubblewrap, you can leave it inside the case just bubblewrapped, insured, and you are good to go.

I was considering Velodyne back when I was getting my sub, but then I got the SVS. Velo is I hear also a very good sub.

So I arrived, took it out of the box and checked the seating of the cards, hooked things up and ready to go. This will make the boring moments easier...
