Compressing Posky Textures.

Recommended Posts

Would there be a way to compress Posky's 737 textures to improve my frame rates? I can fly the default 737 with ease. But if i use the posky 737 i drop a couple frames. It's still flyable, but would it be possible to get the same frames as the default if i compress the textures? I have DXTbmp, not sure how to use it though!

Thanks

Hi Ronn271,

You can use DXTbmp to "save as" DXT3 textures. Simply open the textures individually and click "save as, " Select DXT3.. and save. This will compress the textures if they are larger.

Hope this helps

Jeff

Hi sweet, thanks for the quick reply! But for some reason i don't have DXT3 as a "save as" choice. I have DDS, Extended BMP, Targa with Alpha 24 bit BMP image, ACE DXT1, Creative Assembly, and Infinity Ward Image. Could it be that i don't have the right version of DXTbmp?

Click on "Extended BMP" and DXT3 will be one of the options in the pulldown menu.

When you load the textures in DXTBmp first look at the title bar and see what the original format is.

The only format you can change that will make a difference is 32bit.

regards,

Joe
