July 17, 201213 yr I just got 737 800/900 a few days ago and am working my way through the tutorial #1. So far I love it but am having a problem with my keyboard commands. At some point through the setup for the flight all commands from the keyboard stop working. Pause, zoom, shift Z, etc; nothing works from the keyboard once the problem arises. I have found by experimentation that if I save the flight and exit FSX, then reload the flight the keyboard commands are all back for a while but then as time goes on they go out again. Doesn't matter if I am still on the ground or in the air; I have had happen both ways. I had to use full version of FSUIPC to get my CH TQ throttles to work, I run REX Essentials, Accu-feel. I also have the PMDG J41 and this has not been an issue with that aircraft since I bought it about 2 months ago. I hope someone else has solved this issue and can send me info on how to fix it. I searched the forums but did not find this same issue in my search. Thanks for any help you can provide. So far I have been able to get about 1 hour in the air plus setup time on the ground getting it ready to fly. Jerry Hayman

July 17, 201213 yr hi there, i am also having the same problem, have spent £50 on a graphics card thinking that might be the problem, plus an extra £30 on more RAM memory card hoping that could be the problem which both have failed to cure the problem, as soon as i use the FMC the keyboard seems to just freeze, have tried setting my keyboard to US international which has not helped the problem at all either, if anybody knows how to fix the problem i would be more than grateful, thanks Dax
July 17, 201213 yr Author Glad to know I am not the only one with this issue. We both hope someone has the fix for us. Thanks for any and all suggestions. :good: Jerry Jerry Hayman
July 17, 201213 yr Hello, This is only a suggestion. If you are using a USB Hub for your mouse and keyboard, try using the usb ports in your PC instead, some hubs are sometimes tempremental and cause faults like yours. Also consider updating the keyboard driver. Hope this helps. richard welsh. Richard Welsh
July 18, 201213 yr Author Thanks for the idea Richard. I checked my keyboard and mouse drivers and they both are up to date. I thought maybe you had it but no joy. Thanks for the help though. I will keep trying to find the fix. Jerry Jerry Hayman
July 18, 201213 yr If you're trying to use your computer keyboard to make entries into the FMS, you may not be doing it correctly. The usual way is to use the mouse to click on the keys on the FMS keyboard. If you want to use the computer keyboard, you must first hold down the tab key. See the note starting at the bottom of page 0.00.9 in Tutorial 1. Herman Ross Seattle, USA
July 18, 201213 yr Author Dax, Here is what I found and I hope it will help you too. See the note from Herman above about using keyboard to enter data to the FMC (this did not solve my problem); but he is right about the manual instructions. But what made the difference for me is the following. I got this tip from one of my fellow pilots in our Mirage Executive Charter VA. The key for me was that when the scratchpad on the FMC is active (green box on) it can mess with my keyboard. When the keyboard stops working (every time the green box was there or a message was there) I just deactivate the scratchpad on FMC and the keyboard comes back. I tested this with a 1 hour flight today and confirmed it solved the problem every time. To do this just click off the scratchpad (green box) and if there is a message there clear it so the scratchpad is no longer active. This solved my problem with the keyboard. So if I was doing data entry I would make sure to turn off the scratchpad before I left the FMC. If a message came up and the keyboard stopped working (it didn't happen every time a message came on) I would clear the message and make sure the scratchpad was off (no more green box there or message). That would allow the keyboard to work again. 100% of the time this worked for me today. I hope it will do the same for you. Good luck with this issue Dax. And thanks to everyone above that had suggestions for this issue! Jerry Jerry Hayman
