July 23, 201213 yr It wasn't as much the style I find difficult to get a grip on, it's being able to set aside the time, and go through everything in the detail I want it at. Sometimes I think, "oh, well that's too detailed", and other times I think, "There's plenty more detail could go in there". I think I already have a style myself of procedure, followed by opinion, followed by anecdote with a small amount of humor thrown in for good mix (sounds like I'm baking a cake )..... Seems to work well in some of my posts here on Avsim so hopefully it transfer's well to a book... Ró Rónán O Cadhain.
July 23, 201213 yr "I'm no expert but my opinion is the trick to writing an aviation book is "don't try to be creative in any way". For an aviation book it's really easy. The subject matter is so interesting that all you do is copy." Let's remember that Ró comes from a country with a fine literary tradition, and can't be seen letting the side down  Seriously, any writing should carry the readers' attention and not be boring. Even newspaper reporters have to make their stuff interesting. Getting a copy of the Writers & Artists Yearbook wouldn't be a bad idea, as it's got loads of useful advice as well as info on how to go about getting your work published, and which publishers specialise in various types of writing. http://www.writersandartists.co.uk/
