PMDG MD-11 Keyboard control

Featured Replies

Hi everyone!

I need your help! I just bought the PMDG MD11 and i don't have any joystick, and when i try to fly with the keyboard command it doesn't work. But with the PMDG 737 I don't have this problem and i would really like to know how to fly this bird with my keyboard! Can anyone help me?

Thanks!

Hello

You will not have much luck flying these complex addons without at least a joystick , preferably a yoke and rudders setup.

Just buy a cheap joystick and enjoy flying your aircraft.

I guess I cannot get my head around anyone spending $150 on aircraft but not having at least a $10 joystick.

I guess you're right! I've never thought about getting a joystick thinking it will be too different and harder than simply using the keyboard! And which kind of joystick should i buy to have a better experience and do I need something like fsuipc?

Hi,

You are perfectly fine without fsupic, at least I am perfectly fine without it. First I had a Cyborg X joystic. It was arround 50 $ in the local electronic market. Worked pretty well, altough I had the feeling that I have to improve my system and upgraded to a Saitek ProFlight Yoke and ProFlight Paddels for about 120 $. Works a little bit better than the Cyborg X. Shortly after the Yoke I bought another joystick, this time the Thrustmaster Warthog for about 450 $. Well, more expensive but works perfect.

My Cyborg X went into the trash bin, but the Yoke and the Thrustmaster Warthog are still in use. I prefere the the Yoke for airliners and the Warthog for everything else and especially for the A-10 :good:

What I want to say, you can buy anything you like, a 10 $ joystick will do his job, you will get the plane of the runway, fly a sid manually and land the plane. However maybe one day you won't be happy any more as a cheap joystick normaly isn't as good, as precise, as robust as a more expensive one (which makes sense, doesn't it?) and so you maybe or maybe not want to upgrade. But lastly it is up to you.

My personal hint: For the MD11, B737 and whatever to come you can't do wrong with the Saitek ProFlight Yoke and Rudder Paddals. If you look at the right places you probably can get them together for less then 100$ which is worth the money.

Best regards

John

Thank you John, eBay helped me, so i got a saitek x-52, I hope it will help me

Thanks again!

An Xbox360 Controller works fantasticly in a pinch, but the X52 is an excellent choice.
