July 29, 201213 yr ]Firstly, I apologize if this is in the wrong section. I decided to re-install FSX deluxe w/ acceleration package. Needless to say I can't get my plane to look decent. Even with maxed out aircraft settings, it looks like...........CRAP. I have zero add-ons and everything is stock. Processor: Dual Core E8500 clocked at 3.8ghz Memory: 8GB DDR2 Video: Nvidia Gtx 460 1GB HD: Raid 0 Specs should be able to handle pretty decent settings but often times it choppy, plane looks like utter crap. Even when everything is set to medium and aircraft to Ultra High. See attached Image [attachment=45044:poor plane graphics.jpg
July 29, 201213 yr Make sure you have your fsx.cfg settings and display driver settings set as suggested by Srdan Word Not Allowed in his guide pinned at the top of the Hardware Forum. Did you have this problem prior to reinstalling FSX? Before reinstalling FSX/Acceleration, did you completely uninstall FSX/Acceleration and manually remove the leftover directories? Then run a system registry cleaner? Looks like your AF/AA settings in FSX or your video card are not turned on. Best regards, Jim
July 29, 201213 yr The aircraft texture resolution is probably set wrong! Try to modify it in the advanced settings menu.
July 29, 201213 yr also get nVidia Inspector and set it up for FSX Switchboard - Track Your Simulator Add-ons - Throttle Quadrant
July 29, 201213 yr Commercial Member Another thing you might want to check is to make sure your videocard is installed in the right 16x PCI-E slot. This is usually the slot closest to the CPU. One time, I had to replace my soundcard and the new one was a PCI-E card and for some reason I moved the videocard to another slot. Afterwards, my simulator ran like crap and I was going nuts trying to figure out what the heck was going on. It wasn't until I ran a gpu utility that showed me the video card was running at 1x, did I find out that was the culprit! Regards, Efrain RuizLiveDISPATCH @ http://www.livedispatch.org (CLOSED) ☹️
July 29, 201213 yr Just looks like the wrong texture resolution setting here, nothing to get paniced about. Why is it some people think every little FSX problem needs to be nuked from orbit? Simple problems should mean simple fixes. No wonder some people get the idea that FSX is a xxxxx with a lot of issues that take "hours" to fix and tweak then refuse to ever run it again. Good grief guys.
July 29, 201213 yr Looks like the aircraft textures are mip mapped which may be causing this blurriness in the textures on the aircraft. Go into your fsx cfg and change texture max load to a higher number like 2048/4096 (depending on the res of the textures) DIMITRI
July 30, 201213 yr Author Thanks for the replies guys, I re-configured the cfg file and it went back to normal. I'll have to follow the rest of pinned guide when I have some free time :). Now I remember why I stopped Simulation, it took so much time lol. Now Trying to squeeze in some time before the baby comes.
