Thanks that is good to know. I didn't update my nVidia driver though. Maybe a re-install might help. I found a few others that have the same problem since a few days. So I'm guessing it could be becasue of some automatic Windows update? BTW I'm on Win 7 Pro 64 Bit

I have this weird behaviour: In any aircraft I open a panel e.g. radio and undock it so I can move it on a second monitor. It has worked without problem. For a few days now when I undock a panel it will show a copy of the main view and the actual panel graphics disappear! Even menu access and mouse panning is also shown in my panel window. This happens in 2D view and VC. I have no clue how I did this. So far I have deleted my fsx.cfg for a fresh start but it didn't help. What can I do?

Thanks for the discussion. I did not get any better results in slot1 (had to remove part of the computer case). And like I said in my first post I did delete the fsx.cfg with no improvement. I ended up putting the Quadro back in because it did run quite well. Want to stop experimenting and go flying! I'll go for a better GPU some other time.

Hi, I have used NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800. The performance was good with fairly high settings and no stutters. My friend gave me a GeForce 9800 GT. Thinking it would be better I uninstalled the Quadro and used Driver Sweeper before changing the cards. I have applied the same settings as before in the nVidia Inspector. I had fsx create the [Display] section in the fsx.cfg and deleted the old entry. I applied all tweaks as before. Now fps dropped from 25 to 7! Playing with detail settings and tweaks did not get the performance up. For space reasons I had to install the card in the second PCI-E slot. Could that be a problem? Maybe I should not use the latest driver (341.44) but an older one? Or is the card just not that good? No problem. Try going through the view menu then. The default 737 does have a 2d panel unless you messed with it See these pictures. First is undocked 2d panel (you may need FS panel studio to make some adjustments). The second one is a new view, window undocked, showing the virtual cockpit.

Are you talking about the default 737? In that case like was said about the cessna with shift+1 you open the 2d panel, right click and undock, then you can move it. It is also possible to open a new view window and switch to vc mode and move that window to another screen. That might hit performance, though. Also look for crgsim it's a stand alone glass cockpit that can run on the same or a networked computer. Currently I have a solution similar to Mithras but I use Android.

These are my settings as (I think with little changes) recommended on this forum. Also tweaking the fsx.cfg influences blurries: FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION Default is 0.33 - lower values give more fps, higher values can get rid of blurries, but maybe lower fps.

I have recently started using it. It's brilliant and free! Lots of configuration: dead zones, curves, ... My Webcam is Hama Spy Protect HD-Webcam for 20€. I had a 3 LED Cap but I wasn't happy. It's difficult to get wide angle IR diodes and the cap causes shadowing of the diodes in certain angles.

Hi, I have these two NVIDIA cards. Currently I'm using the Quattro FX 1800 on my i5 because it has larger memory. In areas with lots of autogen I get blue flashes and sometimes freezes. Would the GTS with its higher gpu speed improve performance? It has a smaller memory. Are you using another product like GEX or UTX / FTX? Some scenerys are not compatible with these addons.

On Win XP it's under: C:\documents and settings\#username#\application data\Microsoft\FSX\Cameras.cfg look for the entry Category=Aircraft

Do you want to uninstall SP1/2 ? If you just want to find out what's installed, open the game menu HELP => INFO/ABOUT

If you really mind this little annoyance, temporarily remove the items in your modules folder and deactivate all scenery add-ons in the FSX options menu. Then bring them back one by one.

The interface between FSX and the programming language is Microsofts simconnect. Other than the mentioned languages you can use any .Net language such as C#.

Locate and open the Standard.xml file with an editor. Remove all entries of this kind (just delete all four rows for each key): <Entry> <Key>CTRL+SHIFT+P</Key> <Down>TOGGLE_AIRPORT_NAME_DISPLAY</Down> </Entry> But leave the rest untouched. Also make a backup of this file, sometimes after a crash it is set back to default.

I am a total fan of freeware and I'm constantly looking for it. Some freeware add-ons that I have I don't want to miss. The idea behind freewarescenery.com is great. To list freeware by location and from different flightsim websites is what we need. What it lacks is a USER FEEDBACK (great stuff gets five stars). If you just go by the number of downloads it can be very misleading because the description is very good but the add-on is not. Quite often I look at the size of the downoad to get a feeling, how much work was put into it. Annoyingly often there are BITMAP (!) screenshots in a 6MB zip download and the add-on itself is only 5KB. I know AFCADS can make a huge difference while being small. But disappointment like this can make people turn away from freeware.

This happens when you enter the settings menu and change ANY option. You have to reapply your tweaks afterwards.
