July 30, 201213 yr Recently, I have been having a problem where FSX FPS goes into the single digits and emits a static sound. I don't have a top of the line system, but its decent.FSX runs smoothly when this problem isn't happening. Any suggestions? July 31, 201213 yr Need more info--system specs, operating system, tweaks used in fsx.cfg, etc. Randall
July 31, 201213 yr Author I just put it in the My PC's Specifications. Windows 7 64-Bit. I used ******* tweaks. Aspiring PilotFSDreamTeam JFK, ImagineSim IAD, NMG JohannesburgPMDG 737 NGX, QW 757, Awaiting the QW787 and PMDG 777
July 31, 201213 yr First off, is it a laptop? Second, if it is a desktop, do you have a sound card e.g. Sound Blaster X-Fi, Audigy, etc? Provide this info. I think I know what the problem might be... FS Blog -- http://www.flightsim...y.blogspot.com/

July 31, 201213 yr Author Do you lock your FPS? Not usually, I tried to lock them today too see if it would make a difference and that didn't help. I used the in-game FPS Limiter. I could not find an external one. Aspiring PilotFSDreamTeam JFK, ImagineSim IAD, NMG JohannesburgPMDG 737 NGX, QW 757, Awaiting the QW787 and PMDG 777
July 31, 201213 yr By virtue of the fact that you are hearing "static" may imply some sort of sound issue. Have you tried reinstalling your sound card drivers? DIMITRI

July 31, 201213 yr Author Lock at 30FPS and use Nvidia Inspector to set the Vsync to 1/2 refresh rate. Can I use that if I don't have an Nvidia card? Aspiring PilotFSDreamTeam JFK, ImagineSim IAD, NMG JohannesburgPMDG 737 NGX, QW 757, Awaiting the QW787 and PMDG 777
July 31, 201213 yr Can I use that if I don't have an Nvidia card? No, me thinks. edit: Sorry for that short answer. Didn't mean to be "snippy" or anything. Problem is that I think your specs may be just below the minimum required. Then again, lowering some settings may still give you a decent experience in FSX. Don't give up, keep asking questions, many smart people on this forum.
July 31, 201213 yr Can I use that if I don't have an Nvidia card? Woops I didn't even notice that... If you bring your settings back a bit and lock your FPS at 25 - 30, you shouldn't be getting stutters.
August 1, 201213 yr Laptop's arent the most powerful machines, so don't expect stutterfree eyecandy. A very important slider in you FSX settings is the autogen density slider. Put it back a notch and check the difference. Besides that, there are many factors that have impact on performance, so you should read a few performanceguide's and try different things. Reading your specs, i don't think you will ever get the results you want. With that processorspeed you have to minimize the eyecandy for smoothness. Mark
August 1, 201213 yr Author Yea, I probably will start saving up to do some upgrades too my desktop. I will probably just take a hiatus for a while. Thanks for the help guys. Aspiring PilotFSDreamTeam JFK, ImagineSim IAD, NMG JohannesburgPMDG 737 NGX, QW 757, Awaiting the QW787 and PMDG 777
