July 31, 201213 yr Hi to all , firstly I love this plane surely it does work and look realy nice . Aspecially low cruising over Orbx Australia and flying airhaulers makes more enjoyable . To my question I do fly also jst 41, pmdg 747 , c 337 and couple more , but non of them gives any bouncing on landing . This plane it just keeps bouncing half the rw. I am sure it is not my landing there is something with setings or cfg . Please if anybody has idea what it might be . I did install latest up date for c 208b , but it change nothing . Thanks petr .
July 31, 201213 yr I did install latest up date for c 208b , but it change nothing . Thanks petr . Does that mean the optional patch with the new flight model from Bernt Stolle? It's highly recommended. The bouncing itself could have various causes, petr. Perhaps you are too fast or flare too much and then smash down with a rather high vertical speed. Since you are flying the other planes with pleasure, perhaps it's just about getting used to the C208 then. She's got a huge prop disc in front, so power changes have a large effect on the speeds. She can land pretty slow, rendering her a nice plane for the short runways, together with the ability to use reverse thrust.
August 3, 201213 yr Author Hi thanks for reply I did try few times as suggested and it works. The one think I always manage to land smoothly when landing speed is no more then 80 kt and literally stall her just few feet about rw . Seems that eve fully loaded full flaps don't give me enough drag to stay on speed unless come in very slow with full flaps and slowly take her down not more then 400 fpm other wise she pick up speed and hrs land her . It seems to me that to stay on speed have no efect if full or empty to actually how much power I set . Is there any way to check in cfg if my drag is set correctly please . Thanks Petr
August 3, 201213 yr Author Please disregard all sort out . I didn't change CFG for the last patch . Thanks Petr
February 1, 201313 yr I just picked up the C208B Grand Caravan and Cargo Master. The FDE on landing the Grand Caravan absolutely stunk until I realized that they didn't include the Stolle FDE. I installed it and had a huge sigh of relief. (I've watched FedEx planes land probably a few hundred times and never seen one float like that one did before the fix.) Thank you Bernt! So, I installed the fix on the Grand Caravan but does anyone know how to install it on the Cargo Master? Each has its own aircraft.cfg and I can't put it into both because the names will conflict. The readme file that came with the fix implied that it works for both. Has anyone installed it on both? Gregg Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. February 13, 201313 yr The air file works for both. The changes in the aircraft.cfg are the names, just like you say, and the edited weight where you pick the right value from the table. [weight_and_balance] empty_weight = 4690 //C208B 5080 //C208B Cargopod 5230 //Supercargomaster 4690 As for the name entries, just grab the new aircraft.cfg and then copy and paste the livery entries from the old one. Then you have to change one line for every livery entry, the one reading sim=. The result should be sim=C208_ng and nothing else. This makes sure that the tweaked air file is loaded. If there's another name present, it may point to the old air file or to something FSX can't find. The latter then causing a 'couldn't start flight model' or something message.
