The new GMAX Maamsim R4D is a commercial release with your money going towards supporting the Mid Atlantic Air Museum's restoration efforts towards getting the real R4D flying again. Roy Chaffin is no longer involved with MAAMSIM and has not been for some time now and products released by him should not be confused with genuine MAAMSIM releases.RTH, if you need any help regarding the R4D why don't you post a question in the Maamsim forum here on Avsim.CheersTimhttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif

>Got it within a week of ordering.Yep, they're a nice bunch. I've got both their planes and could wish they would bring out a couple more. :D

Hi there, I ordered the DC-3 a week or so ago and it will join the B-25 when it gets here. I downloaded the RDC-3 by Roy Chaffin assuming he was still on board as it were, but for freeware it seemed a wierd way of getting it uploaded and the .exe file made me a bit paranoid by knowing where it was(still in the briefcase!) when it should have been in the gauges folder:-roll ,so I deleted all of it and the .exe bit as well and now we're told there might be piracy involved. Aahhh, never a dull moment with this simming.

no piracy, at least highly unlikely. Roy has his own products which he does seem to release specifically to harm MAAM sales. Both his DC-3 and B-25 were released within an inch of the MAAM release when he would have known full well that MAAMSim was working on those aircraft as they'd said they would release them many months earlier.

Quite an accusation there.

I have now looked at one or two pages of roy chaffins sites and naturally you get a different side of the picture there. I hope it can all be worked out amicably, as between them over the years they have produced great stuff.

I would suggest you refrain from commenting unless you know more of the facts, Jeroen.

Got mine a week after it was released and I had pre-ordered. Apparently people were working nights to get the orders out. Wonderful aircraft and great guys to do business with.
