OMWINGS L1011 Panel

Featured Replies

Unfortunately, this panel is no longer entirely free. The author, Oliver Moser, was unaware that he had to pay for data transmission, so he had to remove the download section from his site, http://www.omwings.com/TriStar.htm . The panel is still available, for a nominal fee, on CD. The cost is 5 euros for EU countries, otherwise 12 euros.I emailed Oliver and suggested he offer it through AVSIM. Right now he does not intend to do so- no reason given. For those of us who found out about it and downloaded it, consider ourselves fortunate.Alex M.P.S. I was pointed to a 757 panel by Lonny Payne available in the AVSIM library. Like the Omwings L1011 panel, this one seems to be very detailed. I d/l-ed it, but haven't flown it yet.AM

Then I can count myself lucky :D Downloaded them last week, but haven't had the time to install them. I've noticed that the manuals are only available in German ?Pitty, but I should have to understand most of it since Dutch is quite related to German.

What a shame. Wonder why he doesn't upload it to AVSIM?

If you prefer manuals in English, go to the AVSIM library and search under my last name (Momeyer). I spent last weekend translating them. There are 2 files. One is text only, and you'd have to display it in a separate window from the the German pdf file. The other contains jpgs of all the pictures, if you want to assemble your own English language manual for printout purposes.Alex M.

Not sure at all.He was very communicative with me re: translating the manuals. I think he had a substantial number of downloads, perhaps due at least in part to readers of this forum. He says he is familiar with AVSIM, but doesn't intend to upload here. I let him know it would be free.Sigh... :-hmmm Alex M.

I downloaded the manuals to go through them a few days ago, andlast night decided to d/l the panel when they were nolonger available, missed it by a few hours, what a shame. How can we concince him to make the panel available through Avsim orFlightsim,,,,please.Helmut - CYYZP4 2.8G,1024MB Ram,ATI 9800 Pro 128 mb VC

If the panel is freeware or was freeware at the time when it was released, couldn't then anyone of the lucky guys who had the chance to download it, upload it to AVSIM? What says the EULA? Usually freeware authors have nothing against further distribution of their works, as long as it is for free.Wolfgang

Any ideas how to get the PDF file now?Barry

I can't find a EULA in my download. I'll pursue this with the author.Alex M.

...for now, anyway. For all who are interested in this panel, I asked the author, Oliver Moser, to reconsider uploading it to the AVSIM library. He absolutely won't. He wants only orders for his CD.One guess, and it's just a guess at this point: He found out after-the-fact that he would have to pay for all data transmission to whoever is hosting his site. Perhaps he is trying to recover some of his "surprise" costs.Don't know what else I can do at this point... ...sigh... ;( Alex M.
