Archer II elevator axis twitchy

Featured Replies

Hi

Owner of several great Carenado single engine aircraft. One problem however is the Archer II that is very twitchy in the elevator axis. This is especially painful during takeoff and landing when extremely small movements to my Saitek Yoke is needed, or else the Archer will takeoff like a skyrocket. Is there a way to tweak the Archer aircraft.cfg file to better reflect real life manuvers? Any values and insruction how to would be much appriciated.

I also use the Carenado Beech F33A and that aircraft is very stable in the axises and behaves more like a real single engine aircraft, so I figure there should not really be any problems with my hardware Saitek yoke or the sensetivity and null zones.

Much thanks in advance for any help

You can reduce the elevator effectiveness in the Tuning section of the aircraft.cfg file.

Try it, and see.

The consequence is that you lose elevator authority in all phases of flight,

not just the take-off..

Thanks for your reply Bert but since I posted the topic I discovered a little well known and respected company called RealAir :-) and their Lancair Legacy and I havent looked back since. That flight model is simply superb. Throw in the best sound I ever heard, top notch animations and overall look and feel I dont see why I should ever settle for less again. With a Cessna 172 from them around the corner I will have two aircraft occupying me for yers to come.

Yes, the RealAir Lancair is a gem!

And, if you would like a "low and slow" aircraft for just flying around,

their Scout is absolutely first class, as well!

I haven't had too many issues with the Archer, tho I agree the pitch could be improved, for me it is quite stable and easy to trim out. I use it sometimes to brush up on handflying IFR using the old basic instruments.

The Legacy is awesome...perfect followup project to the SF-260. The Scout is great too, I flew it a lot. Another one you might like is the Baytower RV-7. To me it is what would happen if the SF-260 and Scout had a child lol. It combines the qualities of both...Speedy IFR/VFR X-country aerobatics with great STOL ability. The RV with Accu-Feel is good stuff.

Cheers
