August 17, 201213 yr I updated to AS2012 a couple of weeks ago, and have had an ongoing problem since. When flying in inclement weather (thunderstorms, low ceilings, rain, etc...) I can look at the AS radar and see full overcast but when looking out the windscreen of the A/C, no clouds nor overcast. Everything is clear except an occasional cumulus popping up once in a while. I have set FSX weather per the suggestions in the AS manual and have tried several different settings in AS2012 without solving this. Can anyone offer any advice on what to set? I didn't have this problem with ASE. Thanks. Thank you. August 18, 201213 yr Hi, Yesterday I flew a flight from Mexico City (MMMX) to Miami (KMIA), when I checked the weather I had observed that a hurricane was coming up the coast of Mexico, but I thought I was far enough north to avoid it. However with AS2012, I encountered massive overcast skies with no brakes in the clouds. It was really the best overcast coverage I have ever had with any version of Active Sky. Now the reason I got such good coverage was a change in my FSX cfg to this setting: CLOUD_COVERAGE_DENSITY=10 CLOUD_DRAW_DISTANCE=7 DETAILED_CLOUDS=1 that was suggested by another person having the same problem as you. Try this along with these settings in the AS2012 options: [Options] fsVersion = FSX AutoRefreshAI = False DynamicRateofChangePercent = 0 VATSIMDownloads = False AutomaticDownloadInterval = 20 AutomaticDownloads = True CAVOKCloudGenerationPercent = 60 NoDataCloudGenerationPercent = 60 CirrusCloudGenerationPercent = 60 MaximumCloudLayers = 10 MinimumCloudTurbulencePercent = 0 MaximumCloudTurbulencePercent = 100 MinimumCloudIcingPercent = 0 MaximumCloudIcingPercent = 100 StratusCloudOccurrencePercent = 0 MinimumVisibilitySM = 0 MaximumVisibilitySM = 50 MaximumUpperVisibilitySM = 150 MaximumSurfaceWindSpeed = 100 MinimumWindTurbulencePercent = 0 MaximumWindTurbulencePercent = 100 MinimumWindShearPercent = 0 MaximumWindShearPercent = 50 DisableWindsAloft = False WakeTurbulenceStrength = 0 CreateVirtualStations = False EnhanceRouteCoverage = False DepictHurricanes = True EnableSkyScapeMode = False UseSkyScapeforStratus = False ForceHighPriority = False UpdateRange = 500 EnableWindSmoothing = False EnableVisibilityGraduation = True EnableFogLayerSimulation = True LocalSuppression = True SuppressionRange = 200 StartupWave = True EnableDirectWindControl = True ShowSimMessages = False SupressOnGround = False ForceDestinationWeatherZone = True VoiceATIS = True ThermalGenerationRatePercent = 0 UpandDowndraftGenerationRatePercent = 0 MaximumDowndraftRate = 0 MaximumUpdraftThermalRate = 0 DisableHazeLayer = True FogLayerGeneration = True DatFileOverwriteUserEdit = 0 ForceWindLock = True SuppressionCeiling = 10000 FSXDepictionMode = DWC PreventFSXCloudRedraws = True PreventTstormsWithCB = False GraduationCeiling = 8000 UseStratusForFog = True StratoCumulus = True PostPlanGraphicsPrompt = False LocalWriteswithDWC = False Worked perfect for me. August 18, 201213 yr Bob, What are you setting that is not set in the 'as released' product? Cheers, R Cheers, Richard Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.2 GHz, 16 GB memory, 1 TB SSD, GTX 1080 Ti, 28" 4K display Win10-64, P3Dv5, PMDG 748 & 777, Milviz KA350i, ASP3D, vPilot, Navigraph, PFPX, ChasePlane, Orbx
August 18, 201213 yr Hi Richard, this is NOT set by AS, CLOUD_COVERAGE_DENSITY=10 CLOUD_DRAW_DISTANCE=7 DETAILED_CLOUDS=1 Also if you go through my options those are NOT default settings but optimized for my flights in FSX. Small changes that made a big difference for me. Bob
August 18, 201213 yr Author Thanks for the response Bob. I'll go through my AS2012 config. file and make the changes you show. I have already made the FSX changes with no smiley. Hopefully your info will give me what I need. Thanks again. Thank you.
