June 18, 200421 yr Hi I have a problem after I installed some new mesh it says on the splash screen when opening Flight Simulator that "I do not have permission to install new files on this computer please have an administrator log on to complete scenery installation". Any ideas on how to get rid of this message?
June 18, 200421 yr Means what it says, I suspect? Are you on a home or office network? Is it your computer? What is happening is that it is only recognising you as a user, not administrator, of your setup (which I am guessing is WindowsXP based). If it is all yours, then go out of your present user name and log in as Administrator to load your files. And if it is your computer, then change the settings while you are there to enable you to load files from your other identities!Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
June 18, 200421 yr Yes im on my home computer and im using Windows ME. This is the first time this has happened and it only happened when I installed Real Scene 2004 terrain mesh. I had it installed before with no problems but I had to reformat my computer. How do I log into Windows ME as Administrator? Is there something in the registry that I can erase to get rid of it? Thanks alot for the help.
June 18, 200421 yr Author I don't have WinME, but will provide the procedure for WinXP. If you installed WinME with user accounts, it probably works the same.Start your computer, press the F8 key after the black DOS screen appears, and prior to the WinME screen. You can press the F8 key numerous times to ensure, it is read. You should be presented with a DOS menu screen, which has Safe Mode as one of the options. Move the cursor or select the number for Safe Mode. The computer should load to WinME Safe Mode.If it loads to WinME Safe Mode, select Control Panel, Users or User Accounts. If a Wizard opens instead of the Users/User Accounts Window, it means you don't have User/User Accounts on this computer, yet. Safe mode is the Administrator account. You could try starting the flight simulator and see if it install the scenery. You could try setting up a User Account with Administrator priviliges.Again, this is based on WinXP so I don't guarantee that it will work with WinME.W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert

February 23, 201214 yr You think anyone from 8 years ago in this thread is still keeping track? You might want to just start a new thread!Along that line, Windows ME?? Still a useable O/S?? Further thought on that. If the original poster has never gotten his problem solved, he may have moved to X-Plane by now in hopes of finding a solution there. February 23, 201214 yr Kinda of nice to keep it all in one thread! Looks like somebody actually does a search before posting a question that might have been asked countless times before. Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!
