  1. Hi everyone. I currently own a CH Flight Yoke that i've been using for quite some time. There are a few things about it that i've started to dislike recently. The roll potentiometer has started to malfunction slightly when the yoke is deflected a considerable amount to the left. Other than that my biggest gripe is the plastic shaft that seems to flex and cause binding issues near the yoke's traverse limits. I primarily fly the a2a cessna 172 for supplemental practice/training for my real world flying so the Saitek Cessna Yoke peaked my interest. However it seems it's been discontinued. there are a few used ones floating around at some pretty high prices. so my questions are: 1: does anyone know where i might be able to find a used Saitek Cessna yoke at a reasonable price ($150-$250), or is the pro flight yoke my only option? 2: what other options for a yoke in the $150-$250 range might i have? thanks, Evan
  2. It's great that they're providing sufficient support and all, but that's not really what's going to sell the product to me :/..product support should be expected of any dev who's accepting money for the product. From all the comparison i've seen, P3D (for now) is still just a tweaked version of FSX. On the other hand i think it's great that someone (LM) is taking simming seriously with plans to expand on what's already here, but still I don't see the need to convert just yet. When they implement something that improves the overal quallity of the sim such as new physics, ATC, etc. then I'll be here waiting patiently.
  3. With all the hype, I really expected more out of it. There seems to be little improvement on the parts of it that i'm actually interested in (flight simulation/realism upgrades). hopefully with some further development, and maybe some new physics engines being created in the future it will increase the value of P3D. I'd be interested in seeing where the other vehicle types end up too, as i'm a big fan of sub/ship sims like Silent Hunter.
  4. Aah. That makes sense. It seems as though most of what LM has done is just clean house a little bit, and broaden FSX to accommodate land and sea vehicles which is definitely cool. So other than being able to use different physics engines, are there no other parts of Prepar3d that have the purpose of enhancing the overall realism of the sim? are there any other physics engines out there that are usable, or better than current FSX?
  5. I've read the website, and a forum or two in which i thought i'd be informed of a few things, but have yet to really see why prepar3d is significant. Why should i buy it? i know there are some aesthetic improvements, but what other benefits does it have to offer? Improved physics? if so, how much better are they? i'm struggling to justify paying a $50 subscription fee for something that just makes the textures a little bit better. Thanks for any help! -Evan
  6. Didn't want to start another thread on something that had already been solved...guess i'll start a new thread if it makes ya happy. :(
  7. did this ever get solved? i'm having the same problem here, only i'm running XP Pro. i've checked to make sure that i have ownership, and permissions for my C drive and all of its subfolders and items, but i'm still getting this error upon starting fsx. i cant use any of my addon scenery :(thanks in advance,Evan
  8. Hey guys! need a little help if anyone is willing. i've installed 1 gns430 into the baron as i dont have the unlimited pack, but here's my problem. Whenever the rxp gns430 is powered on, i get a yellow anunciator light on the panel that says "stby gyro p" is anyone else having this problem? thanks in advance!
  9. Problem solved! Although what i found is that in my case it wasn't a driver issue. I have recently done a repair install of fsx. When i ran a repair install in the past i remembered it having some problems replacing the old simconnect.dll files. When you mentioned simconnect.xml i grew suspicious of the simconnect.dll files. I replaced them with brand new ones, and then... problem solved :D Here's what i did to fix it: 1. delete the existing simconnect folders and their contents in C:\Windows\WinSxSthere are three simconnect folders that will be named something like x86_microsoft.flightsimulator.simconnect_67c7c14424d61b5b2. insert your fsx install disk and select repair, and follow the instructions on the screen Do this every time you repair your fsx installation. Hopefully this will be of assistance to someone :)
  10. thank you for the info! cant wait to try it out. i wish i had checked the post earlier because i just got out of an unsuccessful flight with my dad yet again. i'll try it out later tonight if my flying buddy is willing.I also reinstalled saitek drivers recently so maybe this is the cause. i'll report back to verify for anyone else who may be having problems.
  11. Thanks for the input, Bman2006. i'll connect to my neighbor's wifi tomorrow to see if i get any different results to try and help rule out or verify what you said about the ISP as we have different providers.
  12. any developments on this topic? i'm having a similar problem with carenado products. the difference in my case is that i have crash effects turned off, and when i transfer control, my other pilot can pitch up and down as far as he likes, but the aircraft will not climb. In doing so the G force on the aircraft increases with pitch in either direction, and the airspeed changes accordingly. i suspected that maybe we had the same problem because if i had crash enabled then his pitching the aircraft would cause an over-G situation just as you described above.
  13. We havent tried any of the default, but thats next on the to-do list. However, we have flown the same aircraft as mentioned above a while back with no problems. The autopilot was on before i transferred control to him, but disengaged prior to transferring control in each case. It appears that when he pushes or pulls on the stick the aircraft pitches accordingly, but the descent/climb rate and altitude remain constant after transferring control. If i have G-effects enabled in the realism settings i'm even experiencing red outs/black outs as he pushes and pulls on the stick as well as stall warnings.
  14. My dad and i have been sharing aircraft(particularly Carenado products) for a while now without any problems until recently. Something has been changed although i cant put my finger on what it could possibly be. Now when we share an aircraft everything works perfecly as it did before until i transfer control to him. When he takes control he can turn the aircraft normally, but he's unable to climb or descend. He can pitch the plane up and down, but it still remains at the altitude that it was at when he accepted control. i've searched everywhere i know to search and so this is a last resort. any help will be greatly appreciated!
  15. thanks for your reply. unfortunately jobless 17 year olds dont have much of a choice but to go the cheapest way...well depending on who your parents are i guess lol. i'm bugging my mom about finally buying a new computer..we've gotten our money out of this old one..but i had nothing else to do with the money really so i went ahead and bought the processor just to see what it would do. it brought my frames up by a few but like you both said not by much.thanks for your help.Evan
  16. I've been looking at upgrading my computer to get a few extra frames. i'm running fs2004 on max settings at around 9-15 fps =/ here are my specs:AMD sempron 1.8 ghz processor830mb ram250gb hard discATI radeon 200 Xpress seriesi'm looking at buying either something like a 8800 gtx video card or upgrading to a 2.2 gigahertz processor. i'm only looking at a 2.2 ghz processor because i'm limited by my motherboard (asus A8AE-LE)any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
