September 1, 201213 yr One of his customers said it's better with OSM2XP freeware sceneries and made this comparison: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-flZ9jFsx96k/UEIeTM1bAGI/AAAAAAAACyY/xtvA4iwbTCs/s2000/comparison.png On the AWG sceneries: - missing forests (or missing trees in the park) - missing buildings - buildings where heights have been specified in OpenStreetMap are not rendered correctly upcoming free upgrades OpenStreetMap and OpenSceneryX are always providing free upgrades. If in the future AWG Simulations will create objects, make their own textures, and their own buildings, then their product may become interesting. But for now all I can see is a vendor trying to sell freeware files. Georges - OpenStreetMap - Ubuntu GNU/Linux -
September 2, 201213 yr Author But for now all I can see is a vendor trying to sell freeware files. I think you are probably right. Thanks for helping me sort this out. I hope others benefitted from your comments as well. Best regards, Tom
September 2, 201213 yr There is a lively discussion over at the AWG blogsite. 'Lively' discussion at xsimreviews too: http://xsimreviews.com/2012/09/01/xsimreviews-1-september-2012/#comment-13337

You are free: To Share: To copy, distribute and use the database. To Create: To produce works from the database. To Adapt: To modify, transform and build upon the database. September 3, 201213 yr Was away a week in hospital (nothing serious, just something that needed to be "fixed") and got a mail on my iPhone while I was there (about this AWG stuff). First I was surprised, that someone tried a "big thing" ... but after some browsing, I came to the same conclusions as MdMax (to make it short). So, yes, as long as you need a "simple" OSM source and some nice - well its a question of taste, really - glacier textures then this might be a solution ... but then I don't see what the "Terrain" in the product name is about  (because, thats the only word which made me curious in the first place).
