banner towing? anyway to do this in FSX?

Featured Replies

anyway to simulate banner towing in FSX? I don't need a visual banner towing out the back.. yes very cool but not needed

I just want to know if there would be anyway to simulate the extra added drag, etc. what weight/parameter to change in the cfg file?

Perhaps it would be possible by altering the air file as well.

I agree that having the actual banner being towed would be very cool. Even cooler if it was possible to add your own message.

We have quite a few banner towing planes down here in South Florida. They usually overfly the sports stadiums and especially the beaches. (Miami Beach and Ft. Lauderdale beaches.)

Maybe someone can find a way to do it using the glider tow rope?

Also, the real magic in banner towing in real life is picking up the banner. I think that would be really fun to try. They don't take off with the banner on the plane. Instead, the banner line is strung up between two poles and the pilot catches it with a hook. This requires a sudden drop of the tail at just the right moment. I remember seeing a video on youtube, I'll have to see if I can find it.

ohhh.. that would be fun.. I think we need a custom written mission for something like this.. way beyond the scope of me. I'll post this in the mission forum.. see if someone is up to the challenge.

Ciao!
