Anyone Install 1.4 w/o Uninstalling 1.3?

Featured Replies

I have run P3D Academic some on my machine that I use heavily for FSX and it runs well...have moved a few aircraft over with migration tool. I am now looking at the update to 1.4, but it appears on LMCO's website f ro P3D and in their forums that one should uninstall P3d 1.3 then download and install 1.4 and move your add-ons again? What? If I recall the download was like 9GB,,,,I can deal with that but really??I have to obliterate what I got running well on 1.3???

Anyone tried just installing 1.4 over top?

pwscott,

Like you, I didn't want to reinvent the wheel.

What I did, AND, v 1.4 is working very well.

Copied my entire LM\Prepar3D folder to my desktop.

Copied my .xml files to desktop

Copied my Prepar3D config to desktop.

Un-Installed v 1.3 through Control Panel - followed the tutorial

Rebooted

Installed v 1.4 as administrator

Went to new 1.4 Folder, to Prepar3D.exe and started as aministrator

1. I then moved my Config back into root / moved my .xml files back into root.

2. From the copied LM v1.3 folder on desktop - I moved all of my Aircraft into respective folder in v 1.4

3. I moved the contents of the Effects / Fonts / Gauges / back into v 1.4

4. Opened v 1.4 and set up my displays / scenery / monitor / resolution, well, you know what to do.

Prepar3D v 1.4 is working great.

Good luck,

Tom

I did all this too - but had errors with ORBX, GSX, and more saying I needed 1.2 or 1.3 to work properly - so I put my saved 1.3 folders back and they now work again.

Not very pleased with my setup for multyplayer or online connection in P3D - cannot connect thro LAN or IP.

With FSX it just connects with FSInn or SBox - Gamespy or IP's - so what is wrong with P3d.
