AI problem

Featured Replies

I have been installing the various AIG and other flight plans and am pretty current. Recently I noticed that I am getting no commercial air traffic as I used to. I do get some military and some private private. U sed to always love watching the AI land. Now I get no incoming traffic. Why would this be? I would appreciate any help and an explanation for this. Thanks for all responses.

Things to check:

IF you are using TrafficTools to install the flight plans.

Did you open the aircraft text file associated with the flight plans and change aircraft speeds to 200 and insert the correct title (from the AI's aircraft.cfg file) for example;

---- only necessary when the AIG given speed is in excess of 200. TTools uses this to compute arrival time. It does not limit the AI's actual speed to 200 ---------

---- speeds set as in AC#1,490 can cause no shows when compiled with TTools -------

AC#1,490,"Delta Boeing 747-400"

changed to:

AC#1,200,"AIA B744pw Delta" <---- from the aircraft configuration file: title=AIA B744pw Delta ----->

If you are using some other installer don't forget you still need to deal with the aircraft title portion but not the change in speed.

In your FS9.cfg file make sure the traffic manager section has these settings. Except for TrafficDensity; 0= off, 1= on

[TrafficManager]

TrafficDensity=100..........................................................< the lower the number the less traffic overall 0= none, 100= max by percentage 0% to 100%

IFROnly=0.......................................................................< affects mostly GA and only a very very small number of commercial flights when set to 1

EnableAirline=1...............................................................< If this is set to 0 you will get no Commercial traffic >

EnableGeneralAviation=1................................................< this one is obviously on (1) or you would see the GA and most military traffic

Are you certain that the airport where you are observing the AI has enough GA and commercial parking to handle the amount of traffic? If not you will see the commercial planes land then disappear. Or not be at the airport when you for load the simulator and begin observing. GA traffic seems to get preferred treatment when it comes to parking.

Please understand that since I have no way of knowing your level of experience I am simply starting "somewhere" and am in no way trying to be condescending. Also, if you are using W7 as your operating system, don't forget the UAC, administrator and permissions issues that may be blocking your FS9.cfg changes or may prevent them if you need to make changes there.

I hope I am helping some.

Best regards,

Mel

wow thanks for taking the time to help. I will look into all these suggestions. I will let you know how they work out...............

Thanks to all responses still the same. You would think that at 5PM you would see them lining up to land at KATL. I get one or two regionals if I wait around for a bit.

If you have AIG's flight plans for Delta (I'm currently running the Summer 2011 plans) installed, I suggest you set your day to Sunday just after daylight and check KATL. It should be very crowded on the ground. If it isn't then I would think you are having issues with the flight plans themselves or perhaps the flight plan bgls are not compiling properly or not being placed where they should. You may wish to have a look in your FS9 root folder/ Scenery / World / Scenery folder to verify that the bgls are actually there. (That is where they should be.) You should find bgls that start with the name 'traffic' and reference the different airlines you have installed. If they are not there then either they are not compiling properly or they are being sent to the wrong location. If the correct aircraft title reference has been added to the flight plan's aircraft text then there are only a few remaining possible reasons for the lack of traffic, most of which have been addressed in the above posts. Two very important questions. What tool or utility are you using to compile the traffic files? What Operating System does your computer use? Okay, one more question, are you using a add on (third party) AF file (AFCAD) that will provide the ample parking?

Mel

Thanks again to tgibson and mebull for the replies.

To tgibson: remove (or move) the AI aircraft out of the FS/Aircraft folder? I am not sure what you mean by this. If I move it out, where would I move it to and would the traffic file recognize it?

Tomebull: I have no problem with ground traffic waiting to take off, actually gets pretty busy. my problem is just with traffic landing. I would like to see more commercial coming in.

What Tom was saying is that if the AI aircraft (model(s), texture(s), aircraft.cfg(s) and airfile(s) were anywhere other than the FS9 / Aircraft folder they would not show up at your airports. Since you do see them on the ground when you start up, that is not your problem here. The aircraft not arriving at a airport at or near the expected time, or not at all, leads me back to a few previous posts and questions asked. What program are you using to compile the flight plans? This is a very important question. See my post #2. Improper AI aircraft speeds set in a flight plan can very often cause no shows at a arrival airport, yet they will be properly seen at the departure airport on the ground and departing when scheduled. They simply never show up.

mebull: Yeah I misread tgibsons post, that should of been obvious. I have been around the block with FS9 a few times LOL. That said I paid attention to your earlier posts and changed the speeds as you said. I tried all the major US airlines and then checked their hubs during peak hours and nothing. I use T Tools to compile. But I always had and did not have this problem till now. Thanks for checking in.....

Try a front end installer for TTools2. One a bit complex is freeware AITM. It can compile and decompile your trafficcxxxx.bgl files from\into projects You install the main version and then the alpha version for FS9 over it. It takes quite a while to crunch it. Don't use the shuffler. You can query using several parameters to get a schedule table form by airline, airport, aircraft, etc., so you can use it as a diagnostic. You use one project folder per traffic file.

http://www.molitor-home.de/FS/default.asp Reports can be slow in coming because of the huge data crunching depending on how your complex your trafficxxxx.bgl file is.

In the FS9 utilities library here freeware Traffic Manager v1.0d might assist you in checking your traffic.bgl files or creating new ones as it is precompiler and decompiler. I am not familiar with it so check the instructions.

Another freeware app is ai traffic manager:

http://stuff4fs.com/newpage.asp?Folder=AIFP

you can look at. Check the screenshot on that page.

If you have FSUIPC3 installed you can use the free app Traffic Look to see in FS real time what ai are around. You will not need to get the paid user registration for FSUIPC3 to do this:

http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66139-updated-modules/

http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66136-useful-additional-programs/

It creates a table in its own window outside of FS and shows ai within range of your aircraft (park it at a busy time at a dense airport where your desired ai airline visits) and shows you ai status either on the ground or in the air. It is handy for assisting spotting so you know where to look for visual confirmation.

If you search on ai traffic manager in the FS9 Utilities section you'll come across a trial length share app called Add-It Pro that you might want to try.
