August 27, 201213 yr Morning all, I have spent the most of the last 2 days loading AI traffic files onto my new PC for FSX SP2. I have read and followed various threads on avsim and AIG for FSX tweaking, i have also used the Nvidia Inspector and set that up i believe as recommended for FSX. I cannot fault the water textures...mind blowing! But i feel like building textures and ground textures seem abit jagged and blurred in places...not quite as SHARP as i was expecting...can anyone hint at what things i can do to solve this matter...ive done so much reading on this and tried various things, performance is still excellent even with all sliders at max and traffic too. AA is unchecked in FSX as i read its best to allow Nvidia GFX card to do this for the sim instead. I am using DX9 i believe. I have tried Preview 10 and this made no difference at all. My PC specs are below and a few pics are included of the sim.... Brad - P3Dv4.5 AIG Moderator | Afcad Editor | FAIB Beta | FSPX Beta
August 27, 201213 yr I think the drivers need to mature a bit. I can't for the life of me reduce shimmer with my 670 no matter what I do. I'm hoping drives will fix it as they get better. Randy Swofford
August 27, 201213 yr You need to be using Nvidia Inspector for AA? there are numerous tutorials on how to set it up. here is one. http://www.simforums.com/forums/nhancer-settings-for-new-drivers-updated-v1932_topic36586.html
August 29, 201213 yr Author Ive seen 2 versionsof this inspector layout, tho my main concern is why my textures or overall visual is showing quite blurred textures and grainy like autogen.buildings cars etc...this PC i have is pretty powerful and all my sliders are on full... September 7, 201213 yr Author So I stil haven't solved the visual issue I'm finding in FSX, as mentioned the overall look of FSX isn't sharp at all, blurries are very common and autogen and buildings look rather jagged and again not very sharp. My system is fully capable of handling FSX and very well too, all sliders are on full. I have turned Anti-aliasing off in FSX and selected trillinear, and allow Nvidia to control the Anti-aliasing enabled via Nvidia Inspector. I have a new monitor also which is a 20" backlit LED. I have followed a few of the flight1 Inspector posts but this hasn't improved the overall crispy sharp look I'm trying to get. Is there anything else im missing? It baffles me that with sliders all on full I'm getting such average visuals. I think my system specs are listed and fair to say its well within the league to push harder than it currently is.... Check out my response in the following post: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/384818-some-advise-needed-please/. The pictures you have shown above show FSX is struggling to render textures, especially in the distance. They are very blurry close up too. Looks like you don't have AA working properly. Do you have them turned on in FSX? They should be off if you are using Word Not Allowed's recommended settings. I have gone to DX10 now and exclusively use the NI settings posted there. The link I provided provides my FSX.cfg settings for the important areas. You can save your current config as FSX.orig then edit the fsx.cfg with my settings and see if there are improvements. You definitely have a problem based on those photos you posted in OP. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! September 9, 201213 yr Author I thought there was some kinda AA problem, i have always had the FSX AA turned off and enabled it via Nvidia Inspector but it still looked wrong in the sim....which was annoying to see because i know i should be getting a much nicer picture.. September 9, 201213 yr Yeah I still get shimmers in the distance and in the cockpit. I think it's due to immature drivers. I'm hoping the next few releases fixes it. Randy Swofford

September 9, 201213 yr Yeah it's the anti aliasing. I can crank up to 8xsgssaa and get rid of them mostly but to much of a hit in clouds. Randy Swofford
September 10, 201213 yr Author How does something like that get addressed to Nvidia when you say the drives are immature? Do we as the buyer report this to them? Brad - P3Dv4.5 AIG Moderator | Afcad Editor | FAIB Beta | FSPX Beta
September 10, 201213 yr Usually takes a few releases when new technology is released. It's pretty normal. Drivers get better, usually, the longer the card has been out. Randy Swofford
