Anybody flying the Antonov AN-14?

As I said in another post, this is the greatest little freeware a/c that has come along for a while. And to think it has been produced in only 10 megs. It is just a shame that it has been released without any documemntation - a not altogether uncommon thing for freeware.Anyway, I have been slowly coming to grips with it and have gotten most of the instruments working -- some require individual switches to be turned on to make them work.I have attached a JPG with 4 instruments shown that I can't work out what they are for or how to use them. All I know is that if you don't turn on the switches on instrument D , then the Gyro A won't work . Anybody have any ideas or speak Russian?PS Boy, can this thing land in a short distance! Thanks Barry

Top one looks like an ILS indicator. Don't know the rest, I d/led it myself last night but have yet to have a go.

Hey Bazza, she sure is a fun plane!!!.Anyway, I would say that "D" is the VOR indicator, "A" is the RMI, "B" is definatly the NAV1 radio, now "C" is a bit of a mystery, I will have a look tonight and see if I can figure it outCheersDan.

A looks like an ADF or RMIB a NAV or Com radioC wisky comapssand D is NAV1 with ILSXomers home page is here http://www.xomer.narod.ru/news_en.htm It has a downloadable manul for the AN 14

It looks nice, though :)

>It looks nice, though :)nono...it IS nice.cheers

I suspect that B and D are related -- maybe some kind of ILS -- but can't get it to work -- can't even get the numerals to change . But I am aware of a couple of gauges that have individual switches that need to be activated before the gauge works so this may also be the case here.A and D are also related because the switches on D must be activated for the Gyro A to work. But there are 3 switches on D and dont know what they are all for. I also cant input changes to what looks like a dual ADF controller on the upper panel above the pilots head. It has many switch positions - all with Russian printing. If we can figure this little beauty out - it will be one of the best GA a/c available. I cant get over how good the FPS are for such a complex VC . Has anybody checked out the passenger cabin -- you have to open the cockpit door before you can go back into the cabin. Apparently this is a FPS saving feature -- and of course, is "as real as it gets" :)I increased the braking strength in the aircraft.cfg to "1.0" and I can land and stop her now on a pinhead! :)Barry

>Xomers home page is here http://www.xomer.narod.ru/news_en.htm>It has a downloadable manul for the AN 14Yes -- I have the manual -- but it looks like it was meant to be some kind of BETA manual - and while it has been very useful to get the aircraft flying, it doesn't mention anything about the use of these gauges. Barry

From the manual I gave the link to A; is a "Gyro Course and Heading Indicator"C: is where D is and is called a "GIK Indicator and uncage button"The far right of the panel is not shown in the Manual. Niether gauge B or D is shown in the mauual. The switches on the lower left panel (not shown in your pic) activate the gauges as well and several other functions. It would be best to download the manual and read whats there.

Have got it to work as far as indicating heading - but what are the 2 pointers for - one you can move using the knob but the other remains fixed. I have also found the swithch called "GIK indicator and uncage button" but so far can not make it do anything - also wondering what a GIK indicator is?Regards Barry

While I have no comments to get the panel working, I must add in my comments on how much I love this bird. :D She's an excellent freeware creation, and is just a blast to fly around. It's fun going to TNCM and landing on the beach before the runway, who needs pavement?! :-lolJason :-wave

Hello, well, when I felt she was good enough to be realised - I did believe that equipment in the cockpit is "self-explanatory" enough. Now, I see how I was wrong :) So, I've just completed the description for the current panels layout and proceding to writing a few short step-by step's for start-up procedure and nav systems set-ups. I hope to upload them here asap (may be in a day or two).Sorry for inconvenience...

No inconvience.. Some of us lazy simmers such as my self have gotten lazy and complacent. Default english gauges I understand, if you go much past that I then have to burn a few brain cells thinking :)It is a great plane a perfect compliment to your AN-2

I have figured out how to start up, fly and land. It's just the coms systems that have me a bit stumped -- then again, my Russian is just a bit deficient!!!!! :-lol Regards and thanks once again.Barry
