GSX Q - How to avoid engine shut off and engine restart?

Featured Replies

OK,, tried the GSX at KLAX.. It very good. love it. But here is the deal..I have this issue..this is more my thing..then the GSX thing.

I usually never shut off my engine and always start with engine already started. LOL smiley.gif The only aircraft I ever learned the start off and shut off procedure was the PMDG 747. But I now ver rarely do this. Is there a way to get around this for slackers like me? Ha Ha!

Here I had to shut off by shutting off the fuel and then when the push back pushed be back and asked me to start my engine.. I had to load the default 172.. do ctrl-E on it and then loaded my LvL-D 767. But that worked. So , now I thinking of some cler way to avoid shutting off Engines and restart. Most good addon airliners you cannot start with Ctrl-E. Hmmm... smiley.gif

PS I have asked this Q in GSX Forum too

An engine start on the 767 takes less time then loading the 172, starting it's engines and loading up the 767 again (on my system at least). If you already know how to start the engines of the PMDG 747 you should be right at home in the 767 apart from the fact that on the 767 you only switch the fuel cutoff levers to on after the engines have spooled up to about 20% N1.

Cheers,

Alex

Hi Manny,

I'm not so much a diehard here and prefer to start up running and ready for pushback. Because I really enjoy GSX I now tend only to fly in birds that are easy to start or restart. My default flight is w/ engines running. When I use my favorite QW757 (wish it had a few more bells n whistles, but I love how it flies and you have to love the trust to weight ratio! Anyway, when I'm just initializing at my departure airport, I immediately shut it down using Ctrl-Shft-F1. I then go to the overhead and turn on the APU. Next we load GSX and bring on services etc. Start up is a simple Ctrl-E and that's it. Pretty simple. For the NGX, I initially w/ engines off ready to start up. After turning on a few pumps and undoing the fuel cutoff levers (heck I'm not even sure if that's what it is!) then once again it's a simple case of Ctrl-E and she starts up as needed. I know many know what they are doing w/ all of this but it's just not what I wish to spend any more time on, so I have the best of both worlds. The Turbine Duke is easy to off/on too.

The good thing with PMDG 737NGX is, using the FMC you can load a 737 configuration. There is one called "Default" So all I had to do was load "default" and my 737 was all powered up... no matter how messed the state of my aircraft was.

I believe, I can load a saved state for 747 as well.. I should try this too.

:P
