September 10, 201213 yr Hi Guys Recently migrated to Windows 7 and have placed the core fs9 file in a new folder C:/ FS 2004/.... outside of the Windows programme/programme x86 folders ( I do not have a partioned HD).I have downloaded the core programme and the 9.1 update everything is running OK. When I insert addon planes, Scenery, utilities etc do I just point them to the new fs 2004 folder I created?. I have looked around but am struggling to make sense of some of the posts I have read on the subject Regards Nic
September 10, 201213 yr Hi Nic, Yes, aircraft would go in to /FS2004/Aircraft; additional scenery would go into /FS2004/Addon Scenery (often directions will indicate other places within FS 2004 for specific files). Don't allow installers to run automatically; make the destination something like C:/temp and manually install items from there. Depending on your old O/S (e.g., Windows XP), some things may not function at all in Win 7. I have found this to be the case with some panel plugins. John
September 10, 201213 yr Planes must go in the ...\FS9\Aircraft folder. Gauges and effects, etc. must also go in their respective folders. For those elements FS starts looking for them in folders based on their relation to the folder that contains the FS9.exe. As far as scenery is concerned, you can place it anywhere. when you add it to the Scenery Library you tell FS9 where to find it. You could place it on another drive if you wish, heck, you could put it on another computer as long as FS has access to it through your network. I don't recommend the last option, though placing it on another drive has merit. regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
