September 11, 201213 yr Enjoy RC4 so far just a few things need some info on. Using W7 64 bit FS9.1, Ultiamte Traffic, BP inter KMCO scenery. I was at gate 23 at KMCO the ATIS only gave rwy 35L for landing and departing, So I requested RWY 36R since I was on that side of the airport UT 3 AI taxing in front of me, us air, contintal. ATC never talked to them at all I was number 4 and given clearance to taxi in pos and hold as #2 but I waited till runway cleared but I could hear ATC talking to the folks on RWY 35L any ideas? Also I'm using Ulitmate Gulfstream and Chanlenger AI which land and take off everywhere at ATC never talks to, one day I was taking off and one was landing from the other direction never talked to tower. Thanks for the help.
September 11, 201213 yr If you new to RC4 update FSUIPC and makerwys from the distribution version, then after updating makerwys run the RC scenery rebuild again. http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66139-updated-modules/ http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66136-useful-additional-programs/ In UT2 be sure your aircraft rendering distance is set to maximum. When present ai patterns take priority in RC for runway assignment. In UT2 sometimes ai arrive late. If using any of the Active Sky or other weather apps be sure to refresh ai after the weather app finishes modifying the weather to correct ATIS reporting. Allow weather and ai to stabilize before requesting runway assignment. Updates for Active Sky FSX apps should be installed. This has to do with the mandatory global weather mode used if DWC is enabled which can cause wind shifting to the same as your aircraft location and changing as you get closer to the airport. There are some fixes in it for weather reporting. For approach RC looks for ai patterns when first assigning a runway on approach contact. It then looks for ai again a little further in in case a runway assignment needs changing. In several posts here, UT2 has been found to use non-standard ai radio identification that may not be in RC's data and sound files. In addition UT2 has been found to assign airline names with added flight numbers delayed until taxi-out causing tail numbers to be used. In these cases RC spells the code phonetically. To check how ai is reported also grab the free traffic look application. It runs using FSUIIPC and in a separate window showing the aircraft id and state of the aircraft. It can be toggled between air and ground ai. To switch between FS and Traffic Look, use alt-tab, or run Traffic Look on a second monitor. Check out this thread regarding UT2 traffic identification: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/382793-call-signs-in-fsx-with-ultimate-traffic/ If you modify any files be sure to make safe copies of rcv3.dat and keyboard.dat in your RC folder and in \data c4.csv. Always use a text editor (word or wordpad), not a spreadsheet application to edit .csv files. Best RC performance is attained by not using PreRecorded chatter and setting Interact with AI on as well as AI Chatter. You should also know that ai chatter is limited to the same phase of communications (approach. tower, etc.) Let RC tune your com 1 for best results.
September 13, 201213 yr Commercial Member you can make a log, information at top of forum, and tell me what ai you think rc should say something to, but you don't hear it. if you are on ground frequency and they are on tower, you won't hear it. if they were cleared before you switched to their frequency, you won't hear it. jd JD Read my blog
September 14, 201213 yr makerwys.exe get placed in your FS folder. There are two ways to proceed with it: If RC is on the same PC as FS, the run the scenery rebuild from within RC. Be sure you put in the correct full path to your FS folder. Mine is for example "h:\program files\microsoft games\flight simulator 9" (without quotes). (I keep that path in a text file on the desktop so I can copy and then paste in in the RC path dialogs when needed with ctrl-v.) Answer No to the are you on Wide FS query. RC will then execute makerwys in your FS folder which will generate several files there. When you answer OK to the last dialog of makerwys stating the number of airports, etc., and that it is completed. RC will then copy the created r5.csv in your FS folder as r4.csv in your RC\data folder. Answer OK and then it will build a4.csv in your RC\data folder. When RC states a4 building is finished answer OK and wait about a half minute to insure your system has finished writing that file and then close RC. The next time you use RC it will use the new data. If RC is on a networked client to an FS host via Wide FS before you start RC first run makerwys.exe in your FS folder. When it states it is finished answer OK. Then start RC and go into the scenery rebuild. This time answer Yes to the question about WideFS. You'll get a caution about running makerwys in FS first but if you did that state OK and then be sure you put in the network full path to your FS folder. At that point RC will copy over your network from your FS host folder r5.csv as r4.csv in your RC\data folder and build a4.csv from that as described in the previous paragraph. If you are on VISTA or Win 7 RC should be started with a shortcut. In that shortcut set its security properties to run as admin so it has no problem accessing your FS folder. Just clear up things where do you put the files created by make rwys
September 20, 201213 yr Author Did all you ask still no help, weired thing at KMCO ATIS says runway 35L Landing Departing only one listed out 4 rwys then I request taxi it wants me to taxi to 36R all the way on the other side from which I am. My path is C:\Flight Simulator 9, and the RC4 is in C:\ program files\ RC, I do have scenery file under FS9 addon and C:\libraries\documents\flight simulator files where all my purchased scenery go?
September 20, 201213 yr First we will insure that the data files between FS and RC transferred Ok. In your FS folder look for r5.csv. Get the date-time of modification and size by right clicking on it. Now go to your rcv4\data folder and right click of r4.csv (a copy of r5.csv) whicjh should almost have the same date-time stamp and be the same size. If that is OK then go back to your FS folder and use word or wordpad to open runways.txt, a huge log file. Search for your airport of interest such as "Airport KMCO" (without quotes). The first encounter will be the default KMCO and you'll see a path in the head of that section to the default folder and file used for the data. The file name will start with AP followed by a few numbers. For each scenery add-on (including afcad types) there will be two sections to the same path, not necessarily together. We'll cal this a section pair. The first section regards deletions and the second has runway data and other information. If you have an add-on for KMCO continue to search for Airport KMCO. The last section pair you find in runways.txt has priority (as established by your library setup recorded in scenery.cfg) has priority and that furnishes the data to RC in r5.csv. See if that last entry section pair points correctly to any add-on scenery. Again, make sure your makerwys.exe is current and you provided a correct path to your FS folder.
September 21, 201213 yr Author This is what I find it is not what it should be. Again the updated AFCAD is in Addon Scenery undr FS9 main folder. In your system, does this path-filename point to your KMCO add-on? It gets this info from your scenery.cfg as managed by your FS library setup. The last pair of sections (deletions followed by the additions) gets priority in creating the runway file r5.csv. Now I did not quite understand your last post. It looked like an unfinished file too long for notepad. You need word or wordpad. Are you sure you updated to makerwys version 4612 and then ran the scenery rebuild? fsuipc.simflight.com/beta/MakeRunways_4612.zip is the direct link to today's version. To see if the data copied go into your fs folder and find r5.csv, right click, and get the date-time modified and the size. Then get the same properties for r4.csv in your RCv4\data folder. The time should be close and the size the same. Now open r4.csv in word or wordpad, not a spreadsheet application. Search for KMCO. For the adcad that is listed as an add-on above it looks like this: KMCO,0170,28.435610,-81.295883,96,183.970,10026,111.75BDG,150,-4.500,28.421860,-81.295738,0,, KMCO,0181,28.448328,-81.322304,96,183.960,12037,0,200,-4.500,28.431820,-81.322128,0,, KMCO,0182,28.448292,-81.326973,96,183.960,12037,111.90BG,200,-4.500,28.431784,-81.326797,0,, KMCO,0350,28.408110,-81.295593,96,3.970,10026,110.50BDG,150,-4.500,28.421860,-81.295738,0,, KMCO,0361,28.415276,-81.326622,96,3.960,12037,0,200,-4.500,28.431784,-81.326797,0,, KMCO,0362,28.415312,-81.321953,96,3.960,12037,110.70BG,200,-4.500,28.431820,-81.322128,0,, The numbers after the ID mean: 17, 18L, 18L, 35, 36L, 36R (Your scenery is current with four, not three runways, where there are now parallel 17/35s so you would add one row to the above.) For the Localizer and guidance: ILSFreq as nnnnn for nnn.nn, or just 0 when no ILS ILSFreqFlags is ILSFreq then optional B (backcourse), D (DME) G (Glideslope) equipped RCr does not use the closed flags or types of permission flags to my knowledge: Status: ,CT for Closed for Takeoff and/or ,CL for Closed for Landing Clsed runways are not listed. You might wish to make a safe copy of r5.csv and r4.csv before checking them. In the scenery rebuild r5.csv gets built, is copied to RCv4\data and then a4.csv, the airport coordinates file, is built from that. RC should be assigning the runways used by ai first and if none are present then the closest runway to your parking with winds as first priority.
October 3, 201213 yr Author All seems to be in the Large File, here's what happened tonight MYNN-KMCO, MYNN seems to work great, Enroute to KMCO Center gives me expect 17L and hands me off to Approach and Approach Changes to 18R, ATIS only gives 18R as the option so I request 17L since I'm east of KMCO and Approach grants me 17L but I'm never cleared lower than 4000' and never vectored to the runway I flew west past RWY 17L/17R/18L and so I just canceled IFR and landed. Ran a fresh update and all is as you stated above. Both scenerys are in the large file.
