Well, since FSX can't simulate that...

I don't post much but wow!!! Kudos to that pilot!

Love Narita! You get alot of these strong crosswinds at Narita as the history of the airport being one of the most heavily contested in the world drove the runway alignment. The airport is actually built on what the locals consider 'holy ground' hence the fierce opposition at time of construction and the runways not really being lined up to the normal winds.

 

40 kt crosswinds really wake up the skill set but the bogeys are fantastic and the Boeing manual actually recommends landing with the crab and kicking it straight on the runway. Ok if the runway is wet but it gives a horrific wobble if it's dry. Personally I prefer to keep the crab to the flare, kick it straight at 25-30' and drop the into wind wing. Lands nicely on one set.

 

The taxy in is great as there as well as there are a few (three I seem to remember) die hards who refused to move during the construction and their houses are actually between the taxyways and one house directly (200') below the approach to Rwy 34R.

 

Great spot if you're a spotter!
