September 19, 201213 yr Hello, Does anyone know how to jump start FS9 and get it to load? Worked fine this morning when I flew a few short hops. Now it just sits on my screen with the little icon going round and round faster than my electric meter. Then, a message stating FS9 not responding. Maybe it's as tired as I am. Thanks, Mike
September 19, 201213 yr I assume it's been some hours since your post. I guess I'll start with a question--after a reboot, does FS9 still hang? If so, do you recall changing any settings within FS9 while it was still working? Did you add any scenery? FS9 is pretty stable in its baseline form, so any problem getting it to start could be caused by external issues such as an odd program in the background. If you can't launch FS9 after a clean boot, and you haven't changed any settings or added scenery, take a look at task manager and see what's running. Things like anti virus software, firewalls, etc... can cause issues and it's not recommended to have them running when you use FS9. I hope this helps, I'll have to wait until Wednesday to find out.... Regards, John
September 19, 201213 yr Author Hi John. This has happened before but only took at the most 2 reboots to fix. I did install Multi Crew Experience to see if I liked it. That's when FS9 first wouldn't load. I took MCE off the computer and rebooted and FS9 still won't load. I've made no intentional settings changes. Turned off anti vrus, firewalls, etc. to no avail. I'll give it a full nights rest and see what happens in the am. Thank you, Mike
September 19, 201213 yr G'day Mike. Just in case you haven't solved your problem yet ... look in the Modules folder and look for FsInsider.dll. That file is sometimes left behind when MCE is uninstalled. Remove it and all should probably be well. Good luck.
September 19, 201213 yr Author I took out FSInsider.dll and I'm back in business. However, if I re-install MCE, won't I be back in the same boat? Thanks, Mike
September 19, 201213 yr Commercial Member I took out FSInsider.dll and I'm back in business. However, if I re-install MCE, won't I be back in the same boat? Thanks, Mike Hello Mike, Sorry to hear the Demo didn't go smoothly for you. MCE doesn't change any "aircraft.cfg" or "panel.cfg" files. Simply removing "fsInsider.dll" from the \Modules\ folder will get you back to the original configuration. Unfortunately, without that module running inside the simulator proces, MCE will not be able to read FS data. Now here are a few things that could upset "fsInsider.dll" You're running WIndows 7 or Vista and UAC isn't disabled. You are running "fs9.exe" in compatibility mode. Please switch it to native mode. If running anti-virus other than Microsoft essentials or Norton, tell the AV to trust "fsInsider.dll" Which anti-virus or anti-malware are you running? Gerald R https://www.multicrewxp.com
September 19, 201213 yr Author Hello. I'm running McAfee anti-virus Plus 2012 on Windows Vista Home Premium, 64 bit. How do you know what mode FS9.exe is in and how to change it to native mode if need be? My UAC is disabled.
July 15, 201411 yr I am aware this topic is nearly two years old now, but is there any way to solve this issue, I am desperate to fly with MCE but my FS9 won't start up without taking this .dll out either. Any help appreciated. Josh
