September 26, 201213 yr Hi, I used to have FSX (with SP2) installed on my PC but uninstalled it a while ago as it was not being used and was taking up a lot of space. My son now wants me to install it again so he can use it. Last night I put disc 1 in my dvd drive to install and I got the following options: Repair – install all previous files added by previous install Remove – remove all files I firstly tried the repair option – it starts to install files but doesn’t get very far as I get a message saying it cannot find a particular file (Atlanta.bgl). It seems to be looking for the file in the folder where FSX was originally installed and not looking at the disc. I get the option to retry or cancel – retry ends up with the same message and cancel ends up cancelling the install and I end up back at my desktop. I have also tried the remove option but this doesn’t work either as I get a message about a windowsinstaller.dll file missing ? I went to the add/remove programs option in control panel and looked for anything related to FSX. There were a couple of programs relating to it (one third party add-on scenery (which was not Atlanta) and the FSX SP2) so I uninstalled both of those and I also done a search for any files with FSX in them and removed them (although these only appeared to be old flight plan files). I then tried installing FSX again but still came up with the issues described above. Can anyone advise what I should try ?. How do I get FSX to install from the disc and not look at where it was previously installed. Grateful for any advise please Many thanks Andrew
September 26, 201213 yr Not sure, but maybe you will have to look in the registry, maybe the link to the sim is still in there, but not an expert so maybe I'm way off base here. __ Catmar

September 26, 201213 yr If the installer presents you with options to repair or remove, that means the program was never removed in the first place. Go to your program files folder and look for a microsoft games and then look for microsoft flight simulator x. Inside this folder you will find an FSX.exe file (the .exe part may not be shown, you'll need to change the folder view options to "details" and look for the file named FSX which is an application). You can try to run FSX by double-clicking this file. If it doesn't work you'll probably have to remove FSX and then reinstall it properly, via the control panel's "programs and features" section.
